- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 16 December 2024Given the glowing reviews for this, I was disappointed to be honest. I guess I must be a soup snob! I've never liked tinned soups, I appear to be sensitive to the taste of preservatives, usually opting for home made or at least the fresh soups in supermarket fridges, but never seem to be able to get broccoli and stilton. However, I wanted something quick and easy and...well , Broccoli and Stilton is my favorite soup. The tub states 25 portions, but this is for 170ml servings. Now given that most coffee mugs are at least 250ml, you see this is little more than half a mug, so you'll probably want to double your portions, and therefore get around 12 servings from this tub. It's easy and quick enough to make, dissolving easily and thickening to an acceptable soupy viscosity. However, the base of this product is potato starch, so you definitely get that strange powdered mashed potato flavour along with a very mild cheesy, but definitely more creamy flavor, none of the tang that Stilton actually provides. Not sure it really provides value for money either, 12 (normal) servings of what is essentially a cup of less than mediocre soup. It states 'bain marie stable' but I can't imagine any self respecting restaurant would actually serve this to paying customers!!! So it will do, on the odd occasion I can't be bothered making anything else! But I wouldn't recommend it, and I definitely won't be making a repeat purchase 😏
