- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 23 January 2021This guard is perfect because of the way it is made, the sides can either be set at the pre drilled 90 degree angle, or, like me, I have cut down the sides with a junior hacksaw and splayed them to suit my fireplace, I re -drilled the holes on the top and used the wire stays to keep it in position, I undid the nuts on the hinges and just drop the door back on when my grandson visits, also I have fixed a black metal cake cooling rack, cut in half to the bottom of the guard which now prevents any hot coals rolling out of the fire and onto my very expensive new carpet , I would say that this is one of the very few items I have purchased that has turned out 100% perfect after easy adaptation! Every fire and hearth is different, I also would like to thank the very nice lady at the sellers who gave me precise measurements of the guard height at the front.
