Customer Review

Had to look around for a new scanner because I'd upgraded my operations to Windows 7, and my old HP model wasn't compatible, nor was there a driver upgrade for it. Having had an initial bad experience thru ÍøÆغÚÁÏ with a "dead on arrival" W7-friendly HP scanner, I decided to look at alternative makes instead. I liked the look and the sound of the Canon LiDE 110 immediately, and could tell by the dimensions mentioned in the spec that it would be a petite machine, taking up little of the available space on my PC desk top (not a lot available, ever). I was intrigued to note also that it didn't require a power lead, and therefore a socket, to feed it - it was done through the USB cable, along with all the TWAIN stuff too.

I received it in good time and good order (this time!), and started to set it up straight away. What a doddle! It installed like a dream, had good clear "one-touch" buttons on the front for instant jobs, and had an easily understandable and unfussy screen interface (much like the old HP jobbie, to be fair). The test scan taught me more or less instantly which settings I needed to choose and save. And what a nifty little space-saver this is. It is hardly bigger than the A4 paper it takes on the platen - it's truly amazing how they downsize things today and don't compromise on efficiency and quality of result.

I can thoroughly recommend this item for those of you (like me) who do not wish to go for all-in-one multi-function devices including a printer (I already had what proved to be a compatible machine, my trusty old Lexmark with a driver update). Let's be honest, for a shade under 50 quid (at time of review), you can't really go wrong here. :)
