  I bought this to replace the velcro on a small electric sander. I peeled the old hook-and-loop backing off the sander with a pair of pliers, cut the new stuff to fit, then cut the dust-extraction holes out. It's easy to cut and I used spray glue (carpet adhesive) to glue the new hook-and-loop onto the sander. It's given my sander a new lease of life and I've got loads left over for next time it wears out. Great stuff and it'll save you money in the long run.
