This SD card adaptor is compact, robust, and the short cable gives you some flexibility with access. I ran a speed check with CrystalDiskMark on Windows 10. Sequential reads reached 96MB/s and writes 38MB/s when connected to a USB3 port. This was using a Sandisk Ultra microSD XC card. This is roughly 4x and 2x faster than a USB2 reader/writer.
My only criticism is that it doesn't have a LED to show that it's connected properly, or that it's reading or writing. In the grand scheme of things it's a small complaint given that it does its job well and is very cheap.
