I have had a ring for a year, sort of ok but not massively impressed. Since ring increased their subscription cost I was adamant I needed to find an alternative.
I did my research and found this. It does the same as ring but without the cost of a subscription. Without a subscription the recordings are saved to an SD card (not included, but cheap) playback is done from the device, presumably the hairpins the internet then to your phone etc. You can subscribe to save recordings to the cloud if you want and you will get extra benefits with this from my understanding.
Not only is this device cheaper, subscription isn't compulsory for playback use, it also comes with a physical door ringer, so you don't need to be near a phone to hear the door.
So in essence, I wholeheartedly recommend this over ring. Easy to setup, no compulsory subscription and includes a ringer.
