Watch Video in 4K Ultra HD on Your Fire TV Device

Compatible Fire TV devices automatically detect if your equipment can stream videos in 4K Ultra HD.

Tip: When you connect your Fire TV to a compatible Ultra HD TV, your home screen typically includes "4K Ultra HD" rows with popular titles.

To watch 4K Ultra HD on Your Fire TV, you need:

  • A high-speed internet connection of at least 15 Mbps. Some video apps (for example, Netflix) recommend at least 20 Mbps.
  • An Ultra HD TV with at least one HDMI input that supports HDCP 2.2 content protection standards.
  • Devices that support HDCP 2.2, including all the devices in your home theater setup (such as AV receivers and soundbars).
  • The resolution of your TV configured to 4K, HDR, or FHD. To find the resolution options, check your TV’s picture or input settings and follow the manufacturer’s instructions if needed.

To check if your TV supports HDCP 2.2:

  1. Go to Settings on your Fire TV.
  2. Select Display & Sounds.
  3. Select Display.
  4. Select Video Resolution.
  5. Set your video resolution to Auto. A notification displays if HDCP 2.2 isn’t detected for your Fire TV's HDMI connection.

Tip: Some HDMI ports on your Ultra HD TV may not support HDCP 2.2. Ports labeled "Mobile High-Definition Link" (MHL), "HDCP 2.2," "UHD," or "4K" typically support HDCP 2.2. The user guide or product packaging for your TV may have more information.
