What is voice Search?
You can search for products using just your voice on the ÍøÆغÚÁÏ Shopping app. For example, you can tap the microphone icon in the search bar and say things such as, "search for air fryer" or "noise cancelling headphones."What happens when I search using my voice?
When you tap the microphone icon in the search bar and begin speaking, a recording of what you said is sent to ÍøÆغÚÁÏ's cloud where we process your request. As you're speaking, we transcribe what you say into text and show it in the search bar. When you stop speaking, we start a search in the same way as if you had typed it into the search bar. We'll automatically delete your voice recording after we process your request. We store and use your voice search transcript as described in our Privacy Notice.
Is using voice on the ÍøÆغÚÁÏ app the same as using Alexa?
No. You can simply tap the microphone button and begin using your voice to search for products, no wakeword needed. Alexa features and skills such as asking for weather, setting timers, and seeking general information ("Alexa, who's the president of the United States?") are not supported on the ÍøÆغÚÁÏ app, but can be accessed via the Alexa app. Alexa is also available on Echo devices (such as Echo Dot, Echo Show, Echo Buds), Fire TVs, Fire tablets, ÍøÆغÚÁÏ Music app and more.Where can I go to adjust my permission settings for voice search?
To adjust the permission settings for voice search:
- In your ÍøÆغÚÁÏ Shopping app, go to Menu.
- Go to Settings and select Permissions.
- In the Permissions dashboard, find the Microphone section, and then find Shop with voice.
- Toggle to turn on and off the microphone permission for Shop with voice.
