Artist bios

Austrian pianist Ingolf Wunder began his musical studies at age 4, at first studying the violin, then taking up the piano after a few years. Following his courses at the music conservatories in Klagenfurt and Linz, he enrolled in the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. Wunder made his debut in the Schubert Hall in the Vienna Konzerthaus at age 14, and two years later, gave a performance of the Prokofiev Third Piano Concerto at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris. Wunder additionally played concerts with the Amadeus Chamber Orchestra and the Orchestre National de Montpellier. In 2010, the bicentennial year of Chopin's birth, he won second prize in the International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, and also took home awards for Best Performance of a Concerto and Best Performance of the Polonaise-Fantasy. In 2011 he embarked on a tour of Japan with the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Antoni Wit, and gave solo recitals of Chopin's works various cities. He also performed in the United States, Europe, China, and Israel. In January 2011, he signed an exclusive recording contract with Deutsche Grammophon.
