Artist bios

Los Soberanos are a kitschy, cartoony Spanish indie pop group who strive to re-create the swingin' sounds of the '60s, covering songs by artists like Juan y Junior, Manolo Diaz, and Los Supersonicos in addition to writing their own like-minded tunes. Although Los Soberanos allege that they started the group in the '60s and were subsequently transported into the future when they fell into a loop in the space-time continuum (it's complicated), the band really formed in Spain in late '90s with musicians Albert Valero, Cecilia Bayo, Cristina Cruz, Pablo Jimenez, Emanuele di Marzo, Ivo von Menzel, and Albert Sola. Although they started playing live shows around Spain starting in 1997 (even making an appearance on Barcelona TV early in their career), Los Soberanos' debut EP, Yo No Tengo a Nadie, didn't see the light of day until 2001, when it was released on Elefant. Their debut full-length, Maratón Ye-Yé, came out on Elefant's Autopop sublabel in 2005. Los Soberanos' second long-player, ¡Fiesta Sin Fin!, was released three years later. ~ TiVo Staff
