Juan Carlos Ozuna Rosado, professionally known as Ozuna, is a record-setting, award-winning reggaeton singer and songwriter from Puerto Rico. He writes positive, uplifting songs that encourage people to work toward their dreams while avoiding the use of profanity out of respect for his daughter. He made his breakthrough in 2016 with the single "La Ocasión," which peaked in the Top 30 of the Hot Latin Songs chart, and he continued with a string of high-profile collaborations before issuing his debut, Odisea, in 2017. The album topped the charts, a feat Ozuna repeated with 2019's urbano-leaning Nibiru, 2020's Enoc, and the following year's Los Dioses, his third collaborative album with Anuel AA. In 2022, the artist released OzuTochi, followed by the surprise release of Cosmo in late 2023. A 2024 single, "Guay," with Bad Gyal was a hit in Spain.

A songwriter since the age of 12, Ozuna grew up in Puerto Rico, later spending time in New York City before his career took off. In 2014, he signed a record contract and began posting singles online. By 2015, songs such as "Si Tu Marido No Te Quiere" had become radio hits across Latin America, and he'd performed concerts in numerous countries. In early 2016, he joined DJ Luian, Mambo Kingz, De la Ghetto, Arcángel, and Anuel AA on the track "La Ocasión," which kicked off a modest chart run for the nascent artist. Months later, he released a remix of his song "No Quiere Enamorarse," which featured superstar Daddy Yankee. The track racked up millions of streaming views. He followed it with "Dile Que Tu Me Quieres," "Si Tu Marido No Te Quiere [Remix]," and "En la Intimidad," all of which charted in the Top 30.

In 2017, Ozuna delivered his full-length debut album, Odisea, which featured guest appearances by De la Ghetto, Anuel AA, J Balvin, and others. Included on the record were the singles "Tell Him That You Love Him," "Your Photo," and "A Flower." In September, the album debuted at number one on the Top Latin Albums chart. He also contributed to a handful of collaborations with Daddy Yankee, Wisin, J Balvin, Chris Jeday, and others. One of the most high-profile duets was 2018's "La Modelo" with American rapper Cardi B, which marked Ozuna's first entry on the Hot 100. His sophomore effort, Aura, arrived later that year and peaked in the Top Ten on the Billboard 200, again debuting at number one on the Latin Albums chart. According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the multi-platinum Puerto Rican-Dominican singer held four world records by the age of 27: He attained one for most videos to reach one billion views on YouTube, another for being the solo artist with the longest reign at number one on the Top Latin Albums chart for his debut Odisea. In addition, he broke the record for most Billboard Latin Music Award nominations, with 23 across 15 categories; he also holds the record for most wins by a single artist with 11.

In 2019, Ozuna delivered more than a handful of charting singles including "Baila Baila Baila" (plus two hit remixes), "Amor Genuino," "Vacía Sin Mí" with Darell, "Yo x Ti, Tu x Mi" with Rosalia, "Muito Calor" with Brazilian singer Anitta, and "Hasta Que Salga el Sol." In late November, he released this third long-player, the 18-track Nibiru. Named for a pseudoscientific planet, the set included 18 tracks; it became his third straight number one debut on the Latin Albums chart. Ozuna referred to the outing as an urbano rather than reggaeton album. In addition to some of the singles, it included a series of collaborations with Diddy and DJ Snake ("Eres Top"), Snoop Dogg and Anuel AA ("Patek"), Dalex and Nicky Jam ("Reggaeton in Paris"), Swae Lee ("Sin Pensar"), and Sech ("Yo Tengo Una Gata"). Ozuna released one more single from that album in April 2020, "Temporal" with Willy Rodriguez (of Cultura Profética), and guested in the Black Eyed Peas single "Mamacita" along with J. Rey Soul (on the group's album Translation). A couple months later, he issued the summery single "Caramelo."

In September 2020, Ozuna issued Enoc, his fourth album. In addition to "Carmelo," it included the advance charting singles "Del Mar" (featuring Sia and Doja Cat) and "Una Locura" (featuring J Balvin and Chencho Corleone). Among its 20 tracks were guest appearances by Cosculluela, Myke Towers, Wisin, Arcángel, and Juanka, on steamy opener "Enigma Occultos." Zion & Lennox joined Ozuna on "Que Tu Esperas," and Towers and Karol G both guested on the remix of "Carmelo." The release debuted in the number one spot at Top Latin Albums and topped numerous streaming charts. In January 2021, Anuel AA and Ozuna issued their third collaborative long-player, Los Dioses. The 12-track set was their first to enter the Latin Albums and Latin streaming charts at number one.

Later that year, Ozuna released the bachata single "Señor Juez," followed in 2022 by tracks like "Deprimida" and "G Wagon. His fifth full-length, OzuTochi, appeared in October. The diverse 18-track set traced Ozuna's roots through the musical styles of Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic while traveling across styles as diverse as dembow ("Perreo y Dembow"), techno-fueled merengue ("Un Lio"), baile funk ("Cielos Rosado"), rock ("La Copa") EDM, and of course, his trademark reggaeton romantico ("Vida," "Manana," and "Favorita"). His collaborators included Arcangel, Chencho Corleone, Feid, J Balvin, and Danny Ocean, among others. Upon release, the record entered the Top Latin Albums chart at number five.

2023 saw Ozuna experimenting with Afrobeats on the seven-song EP Afro and in November, he announced the imminent release of his long-player Cosmo. Appearing a week later, the diverse, 15-track set included collaborations with Chencho Corleone, Sky Rompiendo, Maldy, De la Ghetto, Anuel AA, Chris Jedi, David Guetta, Jhayco, Lito MC Cassidy, and many more. Bad Bunny is a prolific Puerto Rican singer, rapper, and producer based in San Juan who has become a dominant voice in Latin trap and a general trendsetter for música urbana. In addition to placing dozens of singles on charts ranging from Latin pop and reggaeton to dance and hip-hop lists, he has also notched a succession of chart-topping albums including his 2018 debut x100pre and a pair of 2020 albums, YHLQMDLG and El Último Tour Del Mundo. Bad Bunny's sweeping commercial appeal lies in his chameleon-like approach, melding Latin soul, pop, and R&B, hard-hitting trap beats, and reggaeton with a slippery delivery that ranges from humor and pathos to heartbreak and anger. He is also one of the top collaborators in the música urbana movement, working regularly with contemporaries like J Balvin, Daddy Yankee, Rosalía, and Jhay Cortez. After releasing 2022's Grammy-winning Un Verano Sin Ti, Bad Bunny notched his fifth consecutive number one album with 2023's Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana.

Born Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio in 1994, he began singing at five and always took it seriously. His biggest influences were Héctor Lavoe, Vico C, Daddy Yankee, and Marc Anthony. He studied audiovisual communication at the University of Puerto Rico at Arecibo and worked as a bagger at a grocery store while making his own music by night and posting it to SoundCloud. In particular, Bad Bunny's song "Diles" caught the ear of DJ Luian, who signed him to his Hear This Music label in 2016. His breakthrough single, "Soy Peor," issued in December of 2016, peaked at 22 on the Hot Latin Songs chart, and established his trap-heavy sound with the masses. Its video rang up more than 650 million views. Appearances with Ñengo Flow, Arcangel, and Ozuna soon followed, and in early 2017 he kicked off an especially prolific run with the singles "Pa Ti," "Loco Pero Millonario," and "Dime Si Vas a Volver," amid numerous collaborative tracks with Poeta Callejero, Farruko, Brytiago, Almighty, and others. In late 2017, Bunny, J Balvin, and Prince Royce scored a hit with the collaboration "Sensualidad." The singles kept coming in 2018 as he notched another Latin hit with the solo track "Amorfoda" and collaborated again with J Balvin and American rapper Cardi B on her single "I Like It," which topped Billboard's Hot 100 in the summer of that year. On Noche Buena (Christmas Eve) of 2018, the most important day in the LatinX year, Bad Bunny issued his debut long-player, x100pre, to universal acclaim. The set was co-produced by reggaeton legend Tainy and La Paciencia (Roberto Rosado), with the exception of the club jam "200 MPH," which was helmed by Diplo. Its songs ranged from the pop-punk of "Tenemos Que Hablar" to reggaeton ballads including "Solo de Mí" and "Si Estuviésemos Juntos" to tense hip-hop on "Caro." It entered the Top Latin Albums chart at number one in early 2019, and in January peaked at number 12 on the Top 200.

In June, Oasis, the long-teased full-length collaboration between Bad Bunny and J Balvin, arrived. Utilizing a cast of producers who included Sky, Tainy, Legendury Beatz, Marciano Cantero, and Nicael Arroyo, the album peaked at number nine on the Top 200. At that year's Latin Grammys, Bad Bunny took home the award for x100pre as Best Urban Album. He surprised fans once more with the unexpected release of his sophomore full-length YHLQMDLG ("Yo hago lo que me da la gana": "I do whatever I want") at the end of February in 2020. Alternately produced by Subelo NEO and Tainy, the set featured collaborations with Daddy Yankee, Yaviah, Ñengo Flow, Anuel AA, and Jowell y Randy. It entered the Top 200 at number two, becoming the debut appearance of an album by a Latin artist. It also hit the top spot at Top Latin Albums. Issued on cassette and digitally, the first pressing of the former sold out in two days. Later that year Bunny issued his first compilation, Las Que No Iban a Salir. Comprised of unreleased tracks from the x100pre and YHLQMDLG sessions, as well as new cuts including the single "En Casita," the collection included appearances by Zion & Lennox, Yandel, Don Omar, Nicky Jam, and Jhay Cortez.

On Black Friday, Bad Bunny continued his habit of issuing albums without prior announcement. El Último Tour del Mundo, with its garish, semi-truck cover photo, offered a side of the urbano we hadn't seen before. In addition to trap and reggaeton, Bunny's songs acknowledged his love of indie rock with production and musical nods to the Cure, Radiohead, and the Police. The Tainy-produced "La Noche de Anoche," featuring Rosalía, was, uncharacteristically, one of only three collaborations on the album. The others included "Sorry Papi" (featuring Abra, it was also produced by Tainy) and "Dákiti," featuring Jhay Cortez. Two weeks after its release, the Grammy-nominated set peaked in the number one spot on the Top 200. Through 2021, Bunny issued a string of singles, including high-charting remixes of Mora's "Volando" and Nio Garcia's "AM," a collaboration with the long-retired Aventura ("Volví"), and the heartbreak hit "Yonaguni," which peaked at number three on the Top 200. His next full-length came with 2022's Un Verano Sin Ti, a sprawling 23-track set focused on the titular theme of summer. The album, influenced by Caribbean and South American rhythms, offered slices of reggaeton, pop, and trap, as well as unlikely collaborations with the likes of the Marías, Bomba Estéreo, and Tony Dize. Headed up by the sexually charged "Moscow Mule," it debuted at number one on the Billboard albums chart and went on to win the Grammy Award for Best Musica Urbana Album. In May 2023, he hit the top 10 of the Hot 100 and Hot Latin Songs charts with "Where She Goes." He also joined Travis Scott and the Weeknd on the song "K-Pop," then kicked off his next album cycle with "Un Preview." Like Bunny's previous set, Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana was lengthy and diverse, with 22 tracks that wound through Latin trap, Jersey club, drill, and points in between. It yielded the charting hit "Monaco" and the album itself topped Billboard's pop and Latin charts. In April 2024, he and Myke Towers released "Adivino," which he followed later that year with solo singles, "Una Velita," "El Clúb," and "Pitorro de Coco." In January 2025, he returned to Puerto Rico on sixth studio album Debí Tirar Más Fotos, a cosmopolitan set that celebrated his homeland's culture and warned against its exploitation. ~ Timothy Monger

Farruko is a best-selling reggaeton and Latin pop singer/rapper from Puerto Rico. Since delivering his Latin Grammy-nominated 2010 debut album, El Talento del Bloque, he has released more than 160 singles solo or in collaboration with a who's-who of Latin pop superstars, including Pitbull, Daddy Yankee, Natti Natasha, Karol G, and Bad Bunny. His videos have registered hundreds of millions of views (2016's "Chillax" featuring Ky-Mani Marley garnered more than 750 million on its own). Equipped with a smooth high baritone voice, he is equally adept at singing reggaeton, merengue, bachata, pop, Latin dance, and reggae. His third album, Farruko Presenta: Los Menores, was his first to crack the Top Five, while 2015's Visionary reached number one. Two years later, his single "Krippy Kush" and its remix featuring Ocasio, Rvssian, Nicki Minaj, and 21 Savage peaked inside the Top Ten twice, propelling his smash TrapXficante album to number three. 2019's Gangalee topped the Latin streaming list and went to number two at Top Latin Albums; it remained on the chart for two years. Following his soundtrack to the 2019 HBO docuseries En Letra de Otro, Farruko again topped the Latin Albums chart with 2021's La 167, featuring the hit "Pepas." The EP Cvrbon Vrmor (C_DE: G_D.O.N.) arrived in 2024.

Farruko's given name is Carlos Efren Reyes, and he was born in Bayamón in 1991. At the age of 16, he began to post songs under his stage name to MySpace. His first single, "Sexo Fuera del Planeta," gained him thousands of followers, and from there he explored the potential of other social media networks. Due to his massive success on the Internet, he came to the attention of Puerto Rican radio and music industry executives, who enlisted his vocal talents for other artists.

Farruko's debut album, El Talento del Bloque, appeared when he was 18. It was released by Siente Music and distributed by Universal. Most of its 13 songs were self-penned. The set became an almost-instant hit, and several singles followed from it. Some of the record's highlights included collaborative tunes such as "Su Hija Me Gusta" with José Feliciano, "Ella No Es Fácil" with Cosculluela, and "Traime a Tu Amiga" with Arcángel and Julio Voltio. Farruko also issued the non-album smash "Pa' Romper la Discoteca" with Daddy Yankee and Yomo. In 2012, he released his sophomore effort, TMPR: The Most Powerful Rookie. Its first smash single was "Feel the Rhythm" ("Siente el Ritmo"), though it was one of five. As a whole, the set demonstrated that Farruko was as comfortable in electro and pop circles as he was in reggaeton; it was nominated for a Latin Grammy.

After touring throughout Latin America and the United States and establishing large fan bases in locales such as Venezuela and Colombia, Farruko returned to recording in 2014. Farruko Presenta Los Menores was released in late October of that year. A week after its release, it topped the Latin Albums chart. Among the notable collaborations are "Salgo" with Arcángel, Ñengo Flow, D. Ozi, and Genio y Kelmitt; "Bebe Conmigo" with J Balvin; and "Interesada" with Luigi 21+. He won the Premios Juventud for the song "6 AM" with J Balvin and Latin Grammy Awards for Best Urban Performance and Best Urban Song in 2015. In February of that year, he released "Lejos de Aquí," a remix with Yandel. In June, he was Alejandra Guzmán's surprise duet partner on her first urban single, "Adios." In July, he issued the pre-release track "Sunset" (featuring Shaggy and Nicky Jam), which garnered the top spot on various Latin airplay charts. In August, Farruko issued The Ones, a compilation of his charting singles and collaborations; it was a teaser for his next studio effort, Visionary, which appeared in late October. Pre-order excitement for the album propelled it to debut at number one on several Latin album charts; it remained there for several weeks after release. In 2017, he returned with his sixth studio album, TrapXficante. As its title suggested, the artist put his money on the fusion of reggaeton and urban pop with the second generation of Latin trap; the latter he considered still in its infancy, making some commercial inroads but still far from its future force as the face of commercial mainstream Latinx pop -- despite its outlaw ties. He openly desired being the face of that future, and drew on a host of new-generation Latin trap artists as collaborators including Frank Miami, Sharo Torres, Rome, Mambo Kingz, DJ Luian, Maffio, Lil Geniuz, Bad Bunny, and Ladkani. The album was issued in September as Farruko undertook the U.S. leg of his global TrapXficante tour.

In the years that followed, he hopped onto a slew of singles and remixes with the likes of J Balvin, Pedro Capó, Nicky Jam, Zion & Lennox, and Alicia Keys. In the midst of this activity, Farruko was arrested in Puerto Rico in April 2018, which put him under house arrest. During that time, he recorded another album, his eighth overall, titled Gangalee. The set was issued in April 2019 and featured guests Anuel AA, Bad Bunny, and others. Later that year, he released En Letra de Otro, the soundtrack to the HBO Latino documentary-style music series special of the same name. Between its release and 2021, Farruko issued or collaborated on more than 50 singles. Several placed inside the Top Five, including "Krippy Kush," 2020's "La Toxica," and 2021's EDM- and guaracha-infused "Pepas," the latter of which appeared on the singer's full-length La 167. Also that year, he contributed the track "Rápido" to the F9: The Fast Saga soundtrack before releasing his contemplative 2022 single "Nazareno." A year later, he joined Marshmello for "Esta Vida," and he returned in 2024 with "Carbon Vrmor," the title track to his EP Cvrbon Vrmor (C_DE: G_D.O.N.). ~ Thom Jurek
