Scotland-born Michael Dodds grew up listening to electronic groups including Kraftwerk and Depeche Mode, and began collecting keyboards and drum machines. He started producing tracks under the name Rolanoid, in tribute to Roland's seminal TR-808 rhythm machine. Relocating across the globe several times throughout his life, Dodds has been based in Australia for most of his musical career. His tracks have encompassed trance, house, and EDM styles, as well as downtempo/chillout. Rolanoid tracks have been featured as soundtracks to programs on BBC, MTV, and CBS. His songs have been featured in several songwriting competitions, including the International Songwriting Competition, the Australian Songwriting Contest, and the Billboard Song Contest. Without the aid of a recording contract, Rolanoid's music has been self-released online through websites such as Broadjam and Bandcamp. ~ Paul Simpson
