Hotel Ugly is the performing and recording moniker of Houston-based songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Mike Vince. Combining earworm indie pop with laid-back, contemporary R&B, Vince started Hotel Ugly in 2019 with his brother Chris. The duo found immediate success in 2020 when their debut single, "Shut Up My Moms Calling," became a viral hit, garnering millions of streams across multiple platforms. More singles arrived in 2021, including the hits "The Ballad of Eddie Jabuley" and "Stevie Doesn't Wonder." After completing a West Coast tour in 2022, Chris left the group, leaving Mike as the project's sole member.
