Jamaican reggae/dancehall musician Kemaul M. Martin (aka Yaksta) came from humble beginnings, propelled forward by his love for making music.

Hailing from St. Mary, Jamaica, where he was raised by his mother alongside his sisters, he refused to join his peers in a life of crime and instead pursued his passion for music. He initially funded his career by selling clothes on the side while performing at various holiday resorts, but that all changed after the video for his debut single, "Home," went viral. The song was picked up by radio stations in Jamaica and the U.K., which set the stage for his breakthrough single, 2019's "St. Mary." This led to his debut album, 2023's 22. ~ Liam Martin
