Manuel Turizo (full name Manuel Turizo Zapata) is an urbano and reggaeton singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist from Colombia whose trademark is his smooth, buttery, tenor singing voice. He has made major global inroads into the Latin pop mainstream. His 2016 hit "Una Lady Como Tú" was the winner of a Colombian Kids' Choice Award for Favorite Song in 2017. He released his debut long-player, ADN, for the Medellin-based, Sony-distributed La Industria Inc. It peaked at number eight on the Top Latin Albums chart. The following year, he joined Ozuna for the Top Five smash "Vaina Loca." He collaborated with Noriel on "Mala Influencia" in 2020, and the following year released his sophomore album, the charting Dopamina. He appeared later in 2021 in a duet with TINI on her streaming hit single "Maldita Foto." 2000, which included the smash hit "La Bachata," appeared in 2023. A string of popular singles followed in 2024, including the hit "1000 Cosas" with Lola Indigo.

Turizo was born into a musical household -- his mother and older brother are musicians. In interviews he has described participating in music as compulsory. As a child he learned to play saxophone, guitar, ukulele, and piano. While his initial career choice was to become a veterinarian, his brother Julian convinced him to take singing lessons with a Cuban teacher, and the end result -- personally discovering his talent as a singer -- altered the course of his life. (Because of his early success as a professional musician, he had to finish his studies via internet courses.)

In 2016, his first two self-released singles, "Baila Conmigo" and "Vámonos" (both produced by his brother), racked up positive responses on social media and garnered excitement from industry insiders. On March 16, 2017, he released "Una Lady Como Tú" along with a video clip -- the latter went viral with some 300 million views. He signed to the Sony Music-distributed La Industria Inc. label. The track made the Top 40 of the Hot Latin Songs chart and scored even higher on three others including Digital Song Sales, Latin Pop Songs, and YouTube charts. After opening for Ozuna on a Colombian tour, he undertook his own national run of trendy clubs and discos, selling all of them out.

In May 2017, reggaeton singer Valentino released the song "Bésame" featuring Turizo. The video single got 50 million views, and Turizo gained international exposure. In August, he released a remix version of "Una Lady Como Tú" featuring Nicky Jam that got airplay all over Latin America and in the United States. He reached number six on the Columbian charts with 2018's "Culpables," which was included on his 2019 full-length debut, ADN. The album hit number four in Mexico and cracked the Top Ten of Billboard's Top Latin Albums chart.

That same year, Turizo scored an even bigger hit with "Desconocidos" featuring Mau y Ricky and Camilo. Likewise, the 2019 collaboration with Jowell & Randy, "Dile la Verdad," reached number two and was quickly followed by the platinum-selling "Esclavo de Tus Besos" with Ozuna. The following year, Turizo again landed on the Latin charts with "La Nota" featuring Rauw Alejandro and Myke Towers, and collaborated with Noriel on "Mala Influencia." In early 2021, he released the single "Mala Costumbre" with Wisin & Yandel, and in April he released Dopamina, his sophomore long-player. It peaked at 15 on the Top Latin Albums chart and placed inside the Top 20 across streaming platforms. Later that year he appeared as TINI's duet partner on her smash single "Maldita Foto." Among his 2022 releases was another major hit, "La Bachata." Along with the hits "Éxtasis" and "El Merengue," the song anchored Turizo's third long-player, 2000, released in 2023, which reached number 11 on the Latin Albums chart. Collaborations with Sean Paul and Shakira followed and in October, he issued the solo single "ojos. labios. cara." Turizo kept up his busy release schedule throughout 2024 which included prominent singles like "1000 Cosas" with Lola Indigo, "Sussy" with Maffa and Ñengo Flow, and the solo track "Dios Te Cuide." ~ Thom Jurek

Yandel is half of the superstar reggaeton duo Wisin & Yandel, who began performing during the late 1990s. He is also a best-selling solo artist who launched his solo career with 2003's Quien Contra Mi. Yandel surrendered his solo career for the duo's success as they exploded on radio, in stores, and on tour, winning countless Premio Lo Nuestro and Billboard Music awards along the way. The duo took home a Grammy for 2009's Los Extraterrestres in the Best Urban Latin Album category. W&Y amicably went on hiatus in 2013, the same year Yandel issued his sophomore outing, De Líder a Leyenda. It went to number one on the Latin charts. He repeated the feat with 2015's Dangerous, which was certified triple-platinum. 2017's Update was also given multi-platinum certification. The same year W&Y's 2018 reunion album, Los Campeones del Pueblo: The Big Leagues, was released, Yandel issued The One. He followed it with 2020's platinum Quien Contra Mí 2. 2021's charting Dynasty was released in collaboration with Tainy. In March 2022, Wisin & Yandel announced La Ultima Mision, their final album together, and in 2023 Yandel issued the surprise LP Resistencia. Another collaboration, this time with Feid, appeared in 2024 as the Manifesting 20-05 EP, followed the same year by the full-length Elyte.

Born Llandel Veguilla Malavé on January 14, 1977, in Cayey, Puerto Rico, he and Wisin began performing as a duo in the late '90s (Yandel then billed himself "Llandel") and made their album debut in 2000 with Los Reyes del Nuevo Milenio. They later made the jump to a major label in 2003 with Mi Vida...My Life, their first for Universal subsidiary Machete Music. Yandel issued his debut solo offering, Quien Contra Mí, in 2004, but his focus remained on his partnership with Wisin. Pa'l Mundo then catapulted them to mainstream success in 2005. Subsequently, Wisin & Yandel established their own label, WY Records, and presented an affiliate group, Los Vaqueros, whose self-titled debut landed in the Top Ten, followed by 2007's Wisin vs. Yandel: Los Extraterrestres, which hit the top spot on the U.S. Latin Albums chart and sold over a million copies worldwide.

Combined with their highly successful touring show, the duo proved nearly unbeatable as a force in reggaeton. Arriving in 2008, Wisin & Yandel Presentan: La Mente Maestra also hit number one on the U.S. Latin and Mexican albums charts, and was certified platinum in both countries. Their Midas touch continued with 2009's Revolución: Evolucion, which sold over three million copies globally, and 2011's Los Vaqueros: El Regreso, which was their fourth straight U.S. Latin album chart-topper. It also claimed the number one entry in Mexico. The duo toured the Americas relentlessly. After 2012's chart-topping Líderes, Wisin & Yandel toured and coached with the reality show La Voz Mexico, then went on an official hiatus in 2013. The split, though shocking to the music press and fans, was not hostile. Each man claimed he had records to make apart from his work in the duo and that they would work together again.

Yandel's sophomore set, De Líder a Leyenda, featured guest appearances by J Alvarez, Daddy Yankee, and Don Omar. The 16-song set placed number one on the Latin Albums and Latin Rhythms charts and was certified gold. A single from this album, "Hasta Abajo," was used as the theme song for Univision's Nuestra Belleza Latina beauty pageant. Yandel released several singles and remixes from the album, toured, and made guest appearances on other performers' recordings. He re-entered the studio near the end of 2014 and issued no less than five singles in 2015, including "Encantadora," which landed in the Top 20 on numerous charts. The album Dangerous was released in early December. It featured guest spots by Shaggy, Alex Sensation, Lil Jon, and French Montana and topped the Latin Albums chart. Yandel also performed at the Cotto-Canelo fight, making him the first Latino ever to perform during an HBO pay-per-view event. In 2017, he returned with his fourth studio album, #Update, featuring the single "Mi Religión." The album once again showcased a handful of guest spots, including collaborations with J Balvin, Ozuna, Plan B, Wisin, and others. Yandel returned in 2019 with a new studio LP, the aptly named One; it did not include collaborations.

In the summer of 2020, Yandel issued Quién Contra Mi 2, the long-awaited sequel to his 2003 similarly titled debut album. Its 22 songs include collaborations with J Balvin, Ozuna, Anuel AA, Natti Natasha, and Nicky Jam. Its advance single, "No Te Vayas," was certified platinum before its release, while the long-player debuted at number three on the Top 200. The following year, Yandel and producer/composer/rapper Tainy issued the collaborative nine-track digital EP Dynasty.

In March 2022, Wisin & Yandel announced the September release of La Ultima Mision, their final album; it was followed by an international farewell tour. 2023 saw Yandel celebrate his birthday with the surprise 17-track LP Resistencia, which featured collaborations with Wisin, Maluma, and Young Miko. It hit number 12 on Billboard's Top Latin Albums chart. In April 2024, Yandel teamed up with Feid on the joint EP Manifesting 20-05. Also, in October 2024, he delivered the full-length Elyte, once again blending classic reggaetón with contemporary trap, hip-hop, and electronic dance grooves.
