Taylor Character is an American DJ/producer who started live streaming DJ sets from her bedroom as HoneyLuv during the COVID-19 pandemic. It was all downhill from there: breakthrough tracks like “Your Tongue” and “Thr33 6ix 5ive” earned her acclaim from BBC radio presenters in England, and she would spin sets at Coachella, Brooklyn Mirage, and other major festivals.

It was a circuitous journey for Character. Raised on ‘80s and ‘90s R&B and ‘90s house, she initially pursued careers in basketball (sidelined in college by a torn ACL) and the Navy (where she served as a drone mechanic). Her passion for DJ'ing couldn’t be denied, though, and she taught herself the art of the decks while stationed in Los Angeles. Within months she was DJ'ing at parties, and after lockdown in 2020, she adapted gracefully, pivoting to live streams and building a following beyond the city. When she could mix live sets again, she found herself opening for and collaborating with DJs like Calvin Harris, Chris Lake, Seth Troxler, Idris Elba, and many others.

2022 proved her breakthrough year with the release of three well-received singles: “Your Tongue” (accompanied by a viral music video), “Thr33 6ix 5ive,” and the Dope Earth Alien collaboration “Sway,” the latter of which entered heavy rotation on BBC Radio 1, leading DJ Danny Howard to dub her the "future star of 2023." Since moving to London to build on the momentum off those tracks, she’s put out collaborations with Troxler and Paul Johnson (2023’s “Sex & the City”), Cakes da Killa (2023’s “Bring It Back”), and Roland Clark (2024’s “This Is My Life”). In 2024, she launched 4 the Luv, her own label and series of international DJ sets, with a focus on showcasing talent from members of the LGBTQ+ community and people of color. ~ Mike Duquette
