Artist bios

With an Oklahoma-bred red dirt bent, Cole Phillips is a country singer and songwriter known for his relatable, personal storytelling style. He was still a teenager when he made his full-length debut with the autobiographical No Town, Oklahoma in 2024.

A self-taught guitarist, singer, and songwriter from Bridge Creek, Oklahoma (population less than 400 per the 2020 census), Cole Phillips grew up listening to a variety of genres, and his early musical influences span country artists like Zac Brown, Zach Bryan, and Cody Jinks as well as Metallica, Nirvana, and others. He took the country route on his earliest solo efforts, and he was 18 years old when his song "Drinking Alone" went viral on TikTok and debuted on streaming sites in mid-2023. He headed to Nashville, and it wasn't long before Phillips signed a management deal with Why&How and a record contract with RECORDS Nashville/Columbia in early 2024. As indicated by their titles, "Drinking Alone" and later singles including "Stoned in Bridge Creek" were heavily influenced by the isolation and seeming limited prospects of smalltown life; both songs were included on Phillips' debut album, No Town, Oklahoma, in August of 2024. ~ Marcy Donelson
