Artist bios

Carlita's rise as an in-demand DJ is the product of an international upbringing (from her native Turkey to America to Europe) and an unlikely musical education (involving classical instruments). The result is an eclectic discography -- from 2018’s breakthrough collaboration with Lemurian, Luz Del Sol, to her 2024 effort Sentimental -- and her own traveling club show, Senza Fine.

Carla Frayman was born in Istanbul to a Turkish father and an Italian mother whose affinity for Brazilian culture and music fueled her earliest sonic memories. Having already learned to play the piano, at the age of eight she attended a local music conservatory, where she studied cello. She moved to Boston to attend Northwestern University, where she studied marketing, computer science, and music industry classes; her proximity to the Berklee College of Music and a thriving music scene helped deepen her passion for dance music as well as even more instrumental study, including guitar, bass, and drums.

After cutting her teeth as a DJ at the Boston club Bijou -- where she made a deep connection with the owner thanks to their shared Turkish heritage -- Carlita briefly worked in event planning and booking in New York before embracing DJ'ing and producing full-time. Early original works like 2017’s Naranya EP reflected her multicultural heritage and wide-ranging musicianship, though it was a team-up with Peruvian producer Lemurian, 2018’s Luz Del Sol, that put her on the map among house and dance connoisseurs. One such fan was the Italian beatmaker DJ Tennis, whom Carlita met while living in Lisbon, Portugal, during COVID lockdown. With his encouragement, she released the head-turning single “Bon Trip” on his Life and Death imprint; the duo also started performing together under the name Astra Club.

Astra Club became a testing ground for Carlita's own roving live experience, known as Senza Fine (“without end” in Italian). Comprising DJ sets (by her and curated collaborators), artwork, fashion, and even custom fragrances, Senza Fine has become a mainstay of New York Fashion Week and elsewhere around the globe. The exposure landed Carlita DJ sets at some of the biggest festivals in 2023, including Coachella, Burning Man, and Glastonbury. In 2024, Carlita released her debut album Sentimental on Ninja Tune, with standout tracks like “Time” and collaborations with SG Lewis (“The Moment”), Janet Planet (“Forever Baby”), and Cleo Simone (“Planet Blue”). ~ Mike Duquette

Britain's SG Lewis is an in-demand producer, songwriter, and DJ with an emotive, atmospheric approach to dance-oriented, electronic-based music. Initially known for his remixes of artists like Jessie Ware, he released his debut EP, Shivers, in 2015. Collaborations with vocalists such as Gallant, Ray BLK, and Bishop Nehru followed, and in 2018 Lewis began releasing a three-part EP series dedicated to club culture, which was later compiled into the full-length album Dusk, Dark, Dawn. In 2021, he topped the U.K. Dance chart with his full-length debut Times, followed two years later by the double album AudioLust & HigherLove. He also collaborated with Tove Lo on the 2024 joint EP Heat.

A native of Reading, England, Lewis first became interested in music in his teens and played in several bands before he started experimenting with remixing tracks. Influenced by the introspective pop of Bon Iver and James Blake, as well as the club-ready hip-hop of artists like Common, Timbaland, and the Neptunes, Lewis began posting his own evocative, moody tracks online. He quickly built a loyal following, and eventually nabbed a residency DJ'ing at London's Chibuku Club.

In 2014, his remix of Jessie Ware's song "You & I (Forever)" caught the attention of Ware's label, PMR Records, who then signed him. A year later, he released his debut EP, Shivers. In 2016, Lewis delivered his sophomore EP, Yours, which included the track "Holding Back," featuring Gallant. Lewis' 2017 output consisted of the Toulouse-aided single "Times We Had" and the solo track "Smart Aleck Kill." He returned in January 2018 with "Aura," a bright yet low-key track featuring vocalist J Warner. The song appeared on the disco-influenced Dusk, which kicked off his trilogy of club-centric EPs. The Dark and Dawn EPs arrived over the next year and were later combined under the full-length title Dusk Dark Dawn. Meanwhile, Lewis continued to collaborate with other artists like James Vickery's 2019 single "Pressure." After a continued string of singles through 2020 -- including Lewis' biggest hit to date, "Chemicals" -- the producer announced the release of his debut album, Times, in October that year. Described by the musician as an "ode to the present moment, and the finite chances we have to celebrate it," the project saw release in February 2021 and featured appearances from Rhye, Robyn, and Lucky Daye. It topped the U.K. Dance Albums chart. A non-album track, "Missing You"/"Something About Your Love," arrived in 2022. The producer's second LP, AudioLust & HigherLove, arrived in early 2023: a two-part album coming in at over an hour, Lewis' second project aimed to represent the two contrasting sides of love. In 2024, after guesting on Shygirl's charting dance track "Mr. Useless," he teamed up with Tove Lo for the joint EP Heat. ~ Matt Collar
