After spending years going under the name Low Res while working for various labels such as Plug Research, Metroplex and Sony, Danny Zelonky took the moniker Crank upon the release of his first album under this alias in 1999. Thanks to a deal with Mille Plateaux Records, Wanton Phenomena was released with the accompaniment of electronic samples and techno overtones. Heftibag followed later that same year. ~ Mike DaRonco
