By the time the Toronto band Bunny released their eponymous first album in 2017, they had been playing together off and on for seven years under that name. Comprising vocalist/guitarist Drew Smith and bassist Andrew Scott -- two members of Toronto-based indie pop greats the Bicycles -- plus guitarist Jordan Howard of I Am Robot and Proud, synth player Dan Werb of Woodhands, and Comet Control's Jay Anderson on drums, Bunny called on a wide range of friends and colleagues when the time came to make their debut on record. To help them capture their vision of a soft rock Pet Sounds, they welcomed Marker Starling's Chris Cummings, the Elwins' Travis Stokl, Chris Sandes of Comet Control, José Contreras, Brent Randall (aka Gentle Brent), and other members of the Bicycles, including Dana Snell and Randy Lee. The sessions also featured pedal steel by Christine Bougie and guest lead vocals from Isla Craig and Meighan Duffin. The U.K. label Tin Angel released Bunny in August of 2017. ~ Tim Sendra
