Cassyette combines harsh metal and sleek electronic pop textures in her visceral, fiery songs. Early releases including 2022's Sad Girl Mixtape earned her festival slots and tours with the likes of Sum 41 before she delivered her disgruntled debut album, This World Fucking Sucks, in 2024.
A native of Chelmsford, Essex, U.K., Cassy Brooking was working behind the scenes as a songwriter before debuting her stage alias, Cassyette, with the seductive rock single "Jean" in 2019. She significantly bolstered her sound with elements of industrial metal, rap, and confrontational pop on singles including "Dear Goth" and "Prison Purse" in early to mid-2021, when she made her festival debut at Download Festival. That October, Cassyette was featured on the Frank Carter & the Rattlesnakes single "Off with His Head." With her star rising, she released the unofficial album Sad Girl Mixtape in late 2022, which was accompanied by opening slots for Sum 41 and My Chemical Romance.
She came back in early 2023 with an audible chip on her shoulder on the single "BOOM," which doubled as her debut for 23 Recordings. That October, Brooking was one of the songwriters (and backing vocalists) credited on the Bambie Thug single "Doomsday Blue," Ireland's entry in Eurovision Song Contest 2024. In 2024, Cassyette toured U.K. arenas with Bring Me the Horizon and released a steady stream of singles leading up to the August landing of her debut album, This World Fucking Sucks. ~ Marcy Donelson
