Dutch duo ANOTR produce slick, energetic house music that takes influence from classic disco, funk, soul, and jazz. The Amsterdam-based act began releasing material in 2015, founded their NO ART label in 2017, and have been mainstays at international clubs and festivals ever since. ANOTR released numerous EPs and singles, including 2017's Help and 2020's Retpoid Meetings, before making their full-length debut with 2022's The Reset. They've continued to issue singles like 2024's "24 (Turn It Up)" (with Kurtis Wells).
Oguz Han Guney and Jesse Van Der Heijden are the two producers and DJs who make up ANOTR. They first appeared near the end of 2015, playing gigs at clubs around Amsterdam and releasing the EPs Strobe (DFTD) and Want My Love (Snatch! Records). In 2016, they issued another DFTD EP, Mighty Kingdom, as well as the single "What Is House" (Avotre). ANOTR launched the NO ART label with their 2017 rework of Armand Van Helden's "Funk Phenomena," and released numerous more EPs and singles during the year, including Help and "Boogieman." They continued issuing material through NO ART as well as other imprints like Material Series and Solid Grooves Records, with highlights including 2018's "Summer in the Studio" and 2019's "Turn on Me." The EPs Don't Mind Ya Weight, Retpoid Meetings, and Paint a Picture all appeared in 2020.
Due EP, a collaboration with Toman, was released in 2021, and EXPO Series 001, a collection of previously unreleased club weapons, was issued in 2022. ANOTR then collaborated with Abel Balder on the singles "Vertigo," "Your Mind," and the especially popular "Relax My Eyes," all of which channeled classic disco and boogie vibes. The full-length The Reset included two of these tracks, as well as songs featuring Willem Mulder, KAMAE, and King Wonder Bread. In 2024, ANOTR released the singles "How You Feel" (with Erik Bandt, featuring Leven Kali) and "24 (Turn It Up)" (featuring Kurtis Wells). ~ Paul Simpson
