John Collins is best known for producing the song "Ghost Town" by the Specials, one of the hits of the late-'70s and early-'80s ska revival in the United Kingdom. The song is often hauled out by college disc jockeys as a tribute to whatever town happens to be going through economic hardships; Lafayette, LA, for example, adopted the song as a theme when the oil industry collapsed.
