I have had an alternative ladder stand-off for years and I wish I'd bought this one sooner. We have small windows for the upstairs rooms in our house, and this stand-off is able to straddle them. This makes window maintenance much easier. It also has up to about 18inches of stand-off, meaning the extension ladder I use can be raised above the level of the gutters without fouling them, which have about 14inches of overhang. A bonus is that the two-part extension ladder is very heavy for one person to raise. With my old stand-off attached it became almost impossible to lift up to the gutter level. With this new one, I can put the main part of the ladder with the stand-off attached against the wall first, and then attach the second part separately. Much easier, safer and far more convenient.
The only thing I would add is that the finish of some components was rough. I had to file down several burrs from the edges of aluminium components and the steel hooks that fit either side. Luckily I have a file for this job but not everyone may have one.
