Product description

Her role as Miss Moneypenny in the lamentable James Bond spoof CASINO ROYALE may have set hearts a flutter, but it was for her part in classic Italian shockers like BLACK BELLY OF THE TARANTULA and DON T TORTURE A DUCKLING that cemented Barbara Bouchet s status as one of the most libidinous icons of Euro-cult cinema.
Happily, Silvio Amadio s saucy thriller AMUCK! fits snugly into this giallo-centric category too, and here Bouchet stars as Greta; a nubile young secretary under the recent employment of the cravat-wearing Richard (Farley Granger ROPE). Partial to the occasional bout of swinging along with his wanton wife Eleanora (Rosalba Neri SLAUGHTER HOTEL), Richard also seems to harbour a dark secret: the mysterious whereabouts of his missing former assistant, Sally, whom Greta knows very intimately indeed...
With its blend of leeringly-lensed slow motion sex scenes and slick spectacle, AMUCK! is an erotically charged masterclass in murder and deception, brought lovingly to life in high definition thanks to those lovable deviants at 88 Films!

Amuck Blu-ray review.
Amuck Aka Hot Bed of Sex is just pure sleaze with the film enjoying the female body to its full glory, with a slow motion lesbian scene, now for me i did get a bit bored so put my remote on +2 which did speed things up a bit. lol.Now i have to say the Blu-ray quality is very nice, even the night scenes look very good. The audio is in Stereo 2.0 which sounds good, and the film looks great with a 2.35:1 ratio.Region B only. Language English dub / Italian & English subtitles.

OK, i give a 5 for the quality of the 88 Films edition, easily one of my favourite film companies, and with a very reasonable prize,
and a 3 for the film in itself. a not so interesting murder mystery thriller. But what it has is a great location in Venice beautifully shot
in warm colors and .... the lovely Barbara Bouchet is in almost every scene in the film. OK, that automatically makes it a 4 for the film.
And, i almost forgot, it has Rosalba Neri in it too, so a definitive 4 it is. A couple of weeks has passed since i saw it when writing this
and i've forgotten most about the slightly giallo-esque and dull murder mystery, but what i remember is 1. Barbara Bouchet 2. her
slow-motion sexscene with Neri, and 3. the crisp photography from and outside of Venice.

88 Films (i love you guys, please continue with your great work) don't have tons of extras but what they have are the Right one's.
Two really nice interviews with these iconic genre cult actresses, both in their 70's by now. Bouchet is hilarious and smart, and Neri
is so warm and friendly i want her as my mother, and with a good memory too. Also, there's a Q&A with the funny Bouchet

I love gialli, but I have to concede that the (vast) majority of them are merely pale imitations of the superior minority. Amuck is definitely not a superior example of the genre, but then one could argue it’s not really an example of the genre at all, since it features almost no violence, and what little there is would barely make a nun wince. It deals with familiar themes (madness, mystery) and mostly feels like a giallo, but you will be disappointed if you go in expecting a gore-fest. The good news, if you’re a red-blooded male, is that you will not be disappointed with the sexual content, the high point of which is a slow-motion lesbian romp between two of the most famous giallo starlets (and, in my opinion, two of the most staggeringly beautiful women to ever walk the earth), Rosalba Neri and Barbara Bouchet. The cinematography is terrific, as are some of the locations, but this is a film of all style and pretty much no substance.

88 Films’ new blu ray release is wonderful. The picture is beautiful, having been drawn from a very clean camera negative. There is almost no print damage and stability is never an issue. Colour and detail are very strong, and there is a lovely, natural, consistent layer of fine grain throughout. Audio, predictably, is less impressive, with very limited dynamic range. As a replication of the original sound, it’s perfectly serviceable.

Extras-wise, there are interviews with both of the aforementioned actresses, neither of which are particularly fun. There’s also a reversible sleeve with original and new artwork, both of which are pretty cool.

If you’re a giallo collector or a completist, this is certainly as good as this movie will probably ever look and is well worth the purchase. If you’re a casual giallo fan buy it for the sex and the lovely transfer. If you’re looking for something of the stature of those classic early ‘70s Argento or Fulci gialli, there’s nothing to see here.

What a disappointment! It is a good story, with interesting actors, but the transfer from VHS is poor. Apart from the low definition, the lip movements are not synchronized with the voices (both in English). Worst of all, about 3/4 of the way through, the film switches back to the beginning, never providing an end to the story. I tried watching it through from where it began again, and it switched back to the beginning at the same point. Whoever is responsible for this sad effort should be left on a Desert Island, or at least removed from any further contact with transfers to DVD.

Lots of flesh and not a lot else. Was looking forward to this but very disappointed. Some of this is shot very well but nothing more really to recommend.

1.0 out of 5 stars nul très peu d'érotisme
Reviewed in France on 7 January 2020

4.0 out of 5 stars A decent giallo film with a nice blu ray upgrade.

This is not my favorite Giallo. But it does deliver on some of the genres premise. We have a killer ,we have some nudity. This is less violent that what would come later for sure. But it is still a good watch. And this blu rayis a good upgrade from the old dvd.
