Product description
Double crosses, murder and madness... such things are the hallmarks of giallo and Paranoia is a fine example of the form.
Carol Baker (Baby Doll, Orgasmo) is Helen, a race car driver whose life has hit the skids. She's invited to spend the weekend with her ex-husband Maurice (Jean Sorel, Belle de Jour, Short Night of the Glass Dolls) and his wife Constance (Anna Proclemer, Journey to Italy, Illustrious Corpses). Constance wants the feckless Maurice dead and she'd like Helen to help. A plan is drawn up, but things are never so simple in the twisted world of the giallo...
Directed by genre kingpin Umberto Lenzi (Eyeball, Spasmo), 88 Films are proud to present the UK blu ray premiere of a true exploitation classic.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 11 October 2023Surprisingly this came with its slipcover and booklet and for a tenner all in I'd say that's a bargain for a boutique release of this film!
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 16 September 2011This film has some great plot twists and turns that will keep you guessing what happens next. Baker is good as a race car driver(Helen) and Marina Coffa is magnetic as her ex-husband's stepdaughter who's been pulling the strings behind the mysterious events all along. Helen is enlisted by Maurice's new wife, Constance, to help murder him, but these plans backfire. The end has a strange plot hole, maybe it was lost from the film. How did Maurice find his way unseen by others to the doctor when he accidently shot himself with a hunting rifle, leaving the tower empty so people thought he had been murdered? It kept me watching it over a few dozen times. Write what you think happened in comments.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 29 January 2020Very good blu ray visuals add to an interesting tale of the idle rich and the lies and deceits they spin in order to get what they want. Carroll Baker and Jean Sorrel are the beautiful duo at the centre of it all and spend a good part of the film unclothed even though they both have extensive modern wardrobes( 1969 ). I watched it in it's original language with English subtitles. It's stylish and has a great late sixties soundtrack.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 6 June 2021I haven't seen a "Giallo/Sexy Thrilling" for a long time and really fancied this one on the spur of the moment. The BLURAY is excellent quality Bars top and bottom. Terrific colour and picture, with good sound and a choice of the English dubbed version (which does have subtitles but I had to fiddle with my remote to find them), and the Italian soundtrack with English subs. I watched the English dubbed version. If you need subs they are a bit "off", seldom covering exactly what is said, but my wife and I managed OK. Why 3 stars? I think I didnt make a wise choice. The dubbing is only fair and the plot hardly breaks new ground, and, I am not ashamed to say I missed some real glamour/.sex....Fenech/Erica Blanc/Barbara Bouchet etc etc. None of this detracts from Baker who looks terrific in or out of a bikini. Not a disaster but I was hoping for just abit more than was delivered. 88 FILMS have done a great job, and it is worth seeing if you like the genre and Baker. (P.S/ I do mis "Comments"...I can't find any reference to this film either on her CV or Lenzi...Why?)
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 25 January 2022Stylish, sophisticated Giallo from Lenzi
Excellent picture quality
Highly recommended

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 6 April 2015Firstly, the dvd is presented in Italian language only and with no subtitles!! I have only limited Italian and find it easier to follow the dialogue if there are subtitles. So, a problem....but, fortunately it IS possible to enjoy this film without knowing what the actors are saying for the large part. If you are a fan of this kind of Italian thriller from the early seventies there is much to enjoy here! The print is gorgeous on this particular edition - why is it that the colours of so many of these Italian films is preferable (in my opinion) to American films of the same period? It is beautiful to look at and the settings are stunning. The soundtrack is great and Baker and Sorel make an attractive pair. There are numerous twists and turns set among beautiful scenery and typically trendy Italian interiors of the period. We get to see Baker in a state of undress, too - which is an added bonus! Ignore the American reviews at the bottom of this page - they are for another Lenzi film called Paranoia (aka Orgasmo) -filmed a year or two earlier and also starring Baker (alongside Lou Castel). Confusing?? This edition is as appears in the picture at the top of the page.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 18 March 2020The media could not be loaded.
There are twists and turns in this Hitchcock like thriller after a murder attempt goes wrong suspicious eyes fall on the two survivors as everything seems to go wrong.
The more the film went on the more i got into the film and enjoyed the rising tensions that were expertly directed, by Lenzi.
