If you are looking for an Apple HomeKit compatible camera look no further!
It has given me peace of mind when away from home to check in on my dogs.
This camera seamlessly integrated with Apple HomeKit, and not only delivers crystal-clear video but also serves as a hub for my other Aqara devices. Its intuitive interface made for easy setup and management, while the advanced features like motion detection and two-way audio keep me connected and informed.
As a very handy extra it serves as a siren when door sensors are triggered during the nighttime.
This Aqara camera has impressed me so much that I have purchased several other of their products since.

This camera serves as a hub for all Aqara devices, ensuring almost instantaneous notifications to activity detected by other cameras and sensors in the Aqara family. Setup is a breeze using the Aqara app and the image quality is incredibly sharp - even when using night vision. There’s plenty of storage options, (MicroSD, NAS, Aqara cloud and, if linked to HomeKit, iCloud). The built-in speaker and microphone allows two-way communication and the optional alarms are frightening/irritating enough to scare the cat.

I haven’t yet got to grips with the many settings and linking to Apple Home isn’t as straightforward as it should be, however this isn’t enough to mark the product down.

Overall, this is one of a series of excellent smart home devices from Aqara and I was impressed enough with my first G2H Pro camera to immediately buy another. As alluded to above, I also use three window/door sensors to complement the cameras and it hasn’t been a waste of money.

I hope the company considers outdoor cameras for the UK market soon.

I’ve been using this for a few days now, it’s working excellently with HKSV. The camera shows as three devices in the home app - the camera itself, a motion sensor and a security system. The security system can be set up with the Aqara app, but I haven’t looked too far into this as I’ve not used their app (other than to update the software of the camera). The motion sensor responds very quickly, usually within 2 seconds and the picture quality is good, especially when considering the price. I’m also not using the hub functionality (yet) as I do not have any other aqara devices, but I’m definitely going to be using this in the future. There is a multifunctional button on the camera that you can use to do a number of things, like link new devices or reset the camera, all without using their app - this is great if you plan to use with HomeKit. I would definitely consider this over the eve/Logitech offerings considering the price and functionality available.

Disappointing Performance Despite Promising Features

I had high expectations for this camera given its sleek design and the impressive features advertised. However, my experience has been quite disappointing.

1. Poor Video Quality:
The video recording is subpar. The camera exhibits significant ghosting issues, especially noticeable when I’m coming to the camera or waving my hands. This makes the footage unclear and unreliable.

2. Ineffective Microphone:
The microphone barely picks up any sound. I find myself having to yell to be heard, which is incredibly frustrating. This defeats the purpose of having a built-in microphone.

3. Connectivity Issues:
The camera struggled to connect with my router initially, causing significant inconvenience. I had to remove my router from HomeKit entirely for the camera to function properly. Once I did, it finally connected, but this workaround shouldn’t be necessary.

Overall, the camera’s performance does not meet my expectations, and I cannot recommend it.

I got this to install in the lounge as I need to be able to keep an eye on my mother who sadly has dementia when I am not in the lounge. It is connected up to my Apple HomeKit system so I am able to make sure things are ok when I am in the kitchen or upstairs (or even away from home via my iPhone).

The picture quality is great and although I do not actually make use of it the night vision is astounding - when the room is in pitch darkness the camera produces a superb image.

This gives me peace of mind to work around the house whilst being able to keep an eye things just in case.

The g2h pro is a phenomenal camera when it works. Our backyard camera tends to fall off the network one to two times a week and we can’t figure out why. Unplug and plug back in and it works fine for a while. Also, within the HomeKit app, once in a while we cannot access the cameras when on WiFi, but switch to 5G and the feeds come through. Again, we can’t figure out why. When the hiccups aren’t there the cameras are awesome. When the hiccups happen, pretty annoying but easily fixed.

Aqara reached out to me and fixed the problem by sending me a replacement camera. The new camera arrived today, connected easier than my original one and seems to be much better quality video and audio wise. I must have had a defective one.
