"..A CULT CLASSIC 80'S SCI-FI ACTION MOVIE.."
ATOMIC CYBORG aka HANDS OF STEEL 88Films Blu-ray and movie review.PLOT...Sinister industrialist Francis Turner (John Saxon) creates a cyborg known as Paco Queruak (Daniel Greene) who has been programmed to terminate the leader of an ecological faction that stands in the way of the dystopian country in which the story is set. After failing in his mission to eliminate the ecologist, Paco flees to Arizona where he must face his opponents; and ultimately choose between his humanity and robotic natures.Hands of Steel is ultimately the embodiment of the 80's action genre, it's just so much fun, directed by Sergio Martino who made many cult movies like this such as (2019 After the fall of New York) made in 1986 and set in the future of 1997 where cyborgs had AAA Batteries inside them as seen in one shot, hilariously cheesy but great stuff, all the effects in the movie are practical, plenty great action and fights and shoot-outs and lasers and a little rip-off of the Terminator in places, amazing music score too which makes this movie such a stand out for the 80's. The cast is great, Daniel Greene plays a cool macho lead character and Janet Agren (City of the Living Dead, Red Sonja) is sexy. If you love this genre of cult 80's sci-fi action movies Hands of Steel is a must own!Blu-ray picture looks decent in HD for its age.Features include a 40min Sergio interview, trailers, reversible sleeve.Region B UK. Running time 94mins. 1986.English language movie.

This film is about arm wrestling and "Indians scattered on dawn's highway bleeding/Ghosts crowd the young child's fragile eggshell mind" (© Jimbo Morrison).
It's pretty enjoyable and the twenty minutes plus ending is better than the usual low budget film.
This was made by the same dude who made 2012 The Fall Of New York which I thought was better but a different film.
The picture quality was average, bleached colours, glitches and a certain "gauziness".
I'm not sure how good the aspect ratio is but it is a vhs scan alright.
Best bits were all the stupid/insane armwrestling scenes, Paco doing the woodcutting in a few hours, Blanco giving Paco the thumbs up when helping him out on the bridge, the female cyborg with the see thru dress - she was pretty cool and as I said the ending was better than you would expect, also the laser gun was a nice weapon.
As you would expect in this type of thing the acting is at best average, editing & directing ropey and better than the typical Hollywood film of 2015.
If you are into bad films or bad being good films or stupid stuff that's entertaining then I would recommend Atomic Cyborg to you.
It isn't Citizen Kane but it isn't a pain and I'm glad it was made.

I always loved this spaghetti "Terminator" style rip off.
There is not one moment of this movie without decent action, car chases or fight scene.
Sometime in the future a cyborg assassin is on the run from his creators because he showed mercy to his target and let him live, now he is the quarry and is trying to disappear into the acid rain soaked wilderness.
I was kind of hoping for a director's cut with this release but I guess such a thing doesn't exist hence four stars instead of five but the interview in the bonus material is worth a look.
Picture and sound quality for this Bluray are decent.

Hands of Steel has its moments such as some good action, bizarre worldbuilding touches and a decent plot. However, the picture severely lacks momentum and doesn't help to break the connotations associated with Italian Mad Max style films. Though technically not post nuke, it's set mostly in the desert and has more than its fair share of pacing problems, so there.

The arm wrestling makes no sense to me, though it was a fun enough distraction and at least the third act was a perfect landing. Satisfying with an off-kilter final frame. Yes, this is a message film.

Oh and John Saxon and George Eastman. Three Stars!!!

Spaghetti western meets terminator with a soul... Crap acting.. very dated effects and base story... but for all that surprisingly entertaining.

This 88 FILMS version is the one to get. I live in the U.S. and the disc ships from the U.K., but it's worth the wait. Side note: this film is also available from a U.S. company. I suspect they licensed the transfer from 88 FILMS and tweaked it to the point where the color is over-saturated. I prefer the 88 FILMS disc. The extra is a long interview with Sergio Martino, where he mainly speaks of his guilt over Claudio Cassinelli's death during the film's production . Oddly, actor Sergio Testori is uncredited, despite him being in the film from nearly beginning to end. In fact, when I saw this film in a theater in 1986 and didn't know who third-billed Claudio Cassinelli was, I assumed Testori was Cassinelli because he's in the film so much. Other actors with minor roles are credited. HANDS OF STEEL is one of my all-time favorite films. It's non-stop energy, great score by Claudio Simonetti, and a great cast (how can you not like an Italian film with John Saxon?). Well worth adding to your collection .
