This adapter has quite a good output for the price, without any upscaling which many adapters seem to like doing. It doesnt need a seperate power source. I have had some problems with tearing on my monitor, however it seems to be some wierd behavior when my monitor rins in 4:3. I've only tried this adapter with an N64, but it seems to work great with a low latency.

So far I’ve tested it on my SNES and N64. I use a Sony Bravia telly.

For the SNES, colours were terrible, the picture was slightly less blurry but the whole playing experience was bad due to the bad colours.

For the N64, the picture quality didn’t look any sharper and it had a bad wobble to it.

I tried 2 SNES consoles and 3 N64 consoles, 3 different HDMI cables and both HDMI ports on my telly.

I just have the GameCube left to try. Not holding out much hope. I’d it works wonders for the GameCube I’ll keep the thing. If not I’ll be returning it.

Maybe it’s just TV specific, annoying if it is.

So far so good… I think I need to invest in a quality HDMI cable to avoid a few intermittent bad connections, but having read other reviews about these converters generally giving bad colours, simply not working, or having bad response time etc… I am pleased to say this unit works superbly. I have never seen the picture so good from the N64, seems to be no latency as far as I can tell, and the unit is plug and play. The switch on the side changes between 4:3 or stretched 16:9… so far been using 4:3 but will try 16:9 on other games.

Anyway, pleased to say that the Christmas holidays are saved, I couldnt get the composite video cable to work on the new TV, so this was a bit of a hopeful purchase and I’m very pleased it works. Should have bought one sooner!

It is a HDMI adapter for nintendo systems so it does what says in that way. But If you want to improve the quality of your visual experience for your older consoles I do not recommend.
Only 16:9 format is generated while older consoles are all in 4:3 so the image is distorted.
I haven't tried the line doubler hdmi adapter (looks similar, yellow casing) from kaico which for a couple more bucks seems to give way more bang for your bucks. I saw a review of the line doubler on YouTube after purchasing the purple hdmi adapter and I now regret my purchase; the line double has options to smoothen sharp pixel edges and delivers 4:3 images. It seems a way better option!

For the game cube, better to use the hdmi adapter that goes in the GC digital port.

Eins der größten Vorteile ist, dass es ohne zusätzlicher Stromzufuhr funktioniert.
Ich hatte schon den Retroscaler 2x und diverse Av zu HDMI die einfach krässlich vom Fernseher herunterhingen.

Das hier ist schön Kompakt und scaliert sehr gut auf einen 55 Zoll LG 4K Fernseher mit internem Upscaling. Klar ist das Bild noch pixelig, aber dafür ist der N64 ja auch bekannt.

Zum Thema Farbtreue kann ich nichts aussagen da ich kein Enthusiast bin. Ich denke aber, solche Menschen sollten sich einen alten Kathodenstrahlröhrenbildschirm zulegen anstatt sich mit Upscalern auseinander zu setzen.

Für 20€ kann man hier echt nichts falsch machen!

The old CRT box TV I had been using for my SNES finally gave out, so I picked this up to give it a try on an HDMI monitor. I searched for awhile for a good adapter, and chose this one based on the metal housing and no need for an additional power supply. It comes with an HDMI cable so you simply plug the adapter into your console and then the HDMI from the adapter to your display, and you're good to go. There is a little switch on it to change between "S-video" or composite output. If your console supports the S-video option, that's the way to go. There is also a tiny red indicator light that turns on when in use.

I have this plugged into a 24inch monitor, and feel that the picture quality is quite good. It's definitely better than it's been when using an RCA (red white yellow cord) to HDMI adapter. I did not notice any discernible delay or anything like that, and the colors look good as well. Obviously we're not dealing with a high definition game system here so it won't look as good as SNES games on the Switch or SNES classic edition, but those are emulated and here you're still getting the original, albeit adapted, 30ish year old video signal.

The adapter does not have the option to switch from 16:9 to 4:3, but most TVs do if the stretched out image bothers you. I did have a few games where the left side of the screen was slightly cut off, but I think the monitor is causing that and I will eventually have this hooked up to my living room TV.

So to conclude I think this is a solid, relatively inexpensive way to play your retro Nintendo consoles on a modern display. I tested it with both an SNES and Super Famicom, and it worked good. There are cheaper options out there and MUCH more expensive ones as well, but this feels like a quality use of $30, in my opinion, and I'm happy with its function, and simple plug and play operation. I will update this review if I ever get my hands on an N64 or GameCube to test out.
