The charging/display dock comes in quite a small box and the unit has quite a small footprint. No charger is included. But, instructions are given on what kind of power output can be used.The set includes some rechargeable batteries. These are specific to this unit. You can’t use any other regular rechargeables. Using the charger means replacing your existing battery covers with the special magnetic ones which are also included.

One thing to note is that you can’t use controller covers as they will prevent the controllers making a connection. I do have some, so have to put the safety covers on after the controllers have been charged.

I also have a cover on my headset. This didn’t interfere with positioning too much, but because I have a backstrap with battery strap, this did mean that it didn’t sit wholly as possibly as intended. But it still works.

The controllers magnetically connect to the base unit. It’s not a powerful grip and it’s worth spending a moment to ensure that a good connection has been made.

The dock has a lighting system which is quite useful and adaptable. There’s a colour for charging and a different colour when it’s charged. You can use a little button to change from a ‘breathing’ mode to a more static one if you choose. The light is on constantly which might bother some people.

In summary, fit for purpose when using the Quest 3 native strap. Would have been nice to have a choice of regular rechargeables to perhaps use a higher capacity so your controllers last longer.

The rechargable batteries for the controllers work really well - charge quickly and consistently. The docking station for the headset itself hold it really well, and the magnetic charging does as it says and charges at roughly the same speed as the charger given with the headset.
Overall it looks great (and neat) and I'm really happy with the look of a very necessary charging station for the Quest 3

If you are looking for an easier way to keep your quest 3 charged up, then this dock might be the one for you. In the box you get the base, which I have to say feels really well made, the charge controller plates with 2 rechargeable batteries for replacing your original ones. some detachable magnetic usb c connectors for the quest 3 charging point and the manual of instructions.

The actual base is really nice, very simply, but feels quite well made. You have just one button and the charging port, which is usb-c. With a tap of the power button you can turn the rgb off and on or onto breathe modes, or change the color of the base as well. The base also has magnetic controller charging, but you need to replace the old side plates with the new ones and the new batteries in the right way. (the charging points on the batteries must align with the controller plate to work. Once you have done that, you can rest the controllers on the plates to charge and attach the mag safe charging piece to the oculus 3.

Admittedly it is a bit fiddly to setup, but once its done, you should be good to go for a while. The quest 3 sits on the main dock and snaps into place with the charging point on the side. If you have the deluxe strap, it might sit higher than intended, but its long enough that the connector should still snap to it.

Despite the fiddly setup (initially), once completed, you now have a very nice charging platform that also can be used to keep your controllers topped up as well, saves you worrying about replacing the batteries eventually too. Tip, if the controller plates do not fit properly, then the batteries need to be facing the right direction for them to work. I accidentally put the rechargeables in the wrong way first time and the plates would not snap shut as they werent orientated correctly, the terminals need to be at the front. I have no idea if this would for the quest 2, as I do not have that model.

Pros: Little fiddly to setup, but works well with the quest 3 and controllers, rgb light modes too.
Cons: You need to replace the controller battery plates and batteries but they are included.
