I am impressed by the quality of this MaxAwe seed propagation kit. The seed trays and high dome covers are really well made. The lighting kit works great as does the heating mat. Even the 2 small tools, dibber and mini shovel are are also well made. Also included is a useful pair of gloves, If you are looking at this kit, stop looking and just buy it! I don't think that you will find anything better at this price level. NO, I am not being rewarded for a glowing review, I am just seriously impressed!!! You can buy this kit with confidence.

This is a well presented seed growing starter set, which includes 6 trays with transparent lids that house the separate 8 LED grow lights located in tops which allow venting, seed planting inserts which can accommodate 12 seeds, a 21W heating mat, planting tools, label sticks, and a pair of gloves.

To power the LED lights on the 6 seed trays, a USB cable is provided with 6 outlets. This in turn is connected to a controller which not only has an on/off button but also can control the brightness and a timer function allowing the LED��s to be on for 4, 8, 12 or 18 hours after which they will switch off, but turn on again after the appropriate off period has completed. This is a very useful feature to essentially allow for automatic control and provide additional growing aids for the seeds. There is no power supply provided so it will be necessary to have some form of protective case to house a supply if these are to be used in a greenhouse, but they could just as easily be used in the home or a conservatory to germinate the seeds before moving to regular pots.

The heat mat measures 25 x 52cm and has a fairly long power cord of around 145cm which is ideal size for seed trays. It heats up pretty quickly reaching its intended temperature which is warm to the touch but of course as expected not hot (20-40��). There is no temperature control though so once plugged in they are permanently on, and it assumed that the temperature is maintained over the time they are being used. The mat is very flexible so can be rolled up when not in use, and should wipe clean without difficulty.

Overall this is a great little starter seed growing kit and I can see it being very useful and for what is included I think is a very reasonable price.

So much packed into a little box.. wow.....
The kit makes up 6 mini greenhouses with seed sections for 12 plants.
You have a base for holding the water, nicely indented to allow free water distribution, but not overfilling at the same time.
The seed trays have 12 sections for your compost and seeds, this slots nicely into the tray with space around to allow for watering when needed.
The top has a circular holes for ventilation control plus you clip in one of the LED light arrays which you use to give the plant light - set using a timer control - on\off and colour control. The LED array also rotates covering the ventilation holes, so you can control heat moisture.
Top fits nicely on the base, usb c cable pops in the led array with good length of cable to the 13amp plug. All 6 cables come together at the control button. Only small gripe, the 13amp plug is really tight going in and out the socket.
Then you have the heated mat, which heats up really quickly and is thermostatically controlled. Well made and strong plastic out coating. The 6 trays sit nicely on the mat with no problems.
Also included are 2 tools for popping in compost, dibbing and removing the small plant when its time, plus some plant labels so you remember what your growing where.
This really is a great kit and exceptional value for money. Great for getting you plants going.

What a smashing little setup for the germination of seeds, it��s got everything you need other than the medium and seeds of your own choosing to get going. The plastic is pretty rigid and well moulded so sits together nicely and the light units clip onto the top which is extra thick for durability, the light modules use USB C connections and with a little push supported from underneath click nicely into place and the 2 little tools with gloves that are included are a good touch plus a few plant labels to get you started.
The heating mat which is only 21 watts so will be cheap to use warms quickly. The only problem I��ve had is the mains plug was too small to fit in any of my sockets but was easily remedied with a new plug fitted with a 3 amp fuse. I love it that much I��m still happy to recommend it!

There is a lot to like about this little kit, but there are a couple of things that I thought could be a bit better. The trays and the covers are quite small, but to be fair are probably fine for what the kit is designed for. They are also quite thin plastic so if this is going to last then a bit of care will be needed. The trays and the lids come stacked inside each other only they are a snug fit and care is needed to separate them to avoid damage and because they are thin they feel fragile. The little air regular at the top is also the LED lighting unit and this pushes into place relatively easily. The cable for the LED lights is an OK length but if you plan to use a plug in unit to power them you will need to set this up near a mains socket or use an extension lead; I have used a power bank for ease. The heater mat seems OK it is not large so three of these seed trays fit on fine, although it might be possible to just about get all six on if you squeeze then on sideways.

My biggest complaint is the heater mat mains plug it is a moulded unit so cant be removed but it is not fused, that is not good so I plan to cut it off and put a proper fused plug on (I should not have to do that these days)

However I think its OK I plan to use it to start off Lettuce, the lettuce you get in the shops these days is just not as good as it was back in the good old days, I really don't understand the decline of decent lettuce.

This appears to be priced about the same as other similar items and I have no idea if they are better or worse than this, but if I get some decent veg started then I will be happy. 4 stars because that plug really should be fused.
