About this item

This ODV GBS C Converter is specially designed for classic retro game consoles. It converts YPbPr component and RGB signals to standard HDMI and VGA signals for easy connection to modern TVs and displays. Support low solution output function of reverse direction analog signal. Solve problems of common converter (such as OSSC) got.
Lag free. Support dynamic de-interleaving, scanline effect and no delay for 240p/480i switching.
Also process 480p, 480i, 240p signal to 240p resolution.
Feature separate audio input and output. You may connect it to earphones or other audio devices.
Utilizing the additional R/G/B knobs on the converter, user can further fine-tune the output color degree of red, green and blue respectively to meet their needs.
With LED display and control button for setting. Easy to control. You can modify setting directly from your computer or mobile phone via WiFi connection (details refer to manual).
Powered via DC 12V/2A. Firmware upgradable via computer.

Retro gaming can be an expensive hobby. But this is worth every penny and is the best retro purchase i have made. I wanted something in between the cheap ps2 to hdmi and the more expensive options such as retrotink and found this great bit of kit. The design of the upscaler is beautiful and sleek and most importantly it does a great job. Picture and sound quality are perfect. I would recommend investing in a decent retro gaming ps2 to scart for the best experience (initially got a cheap one from amazon and it hindered the performance massively)

I thought I'd give this a go since other options are expensive, and the HDMI adapters aren't great.

Initially I saw that scanlines were only available for 240p, but it seems it has been updated to allow scanline filters on 480i content with bob deinterlacing, which is better than what was originally advertised, so I like that!

Lots of options and easy to configure. The build quality is decent.

Will update when I use this more. But for the price, it's good and the image is clear, make sure you have good component cables!

Took a punt on this after spending too much money on hdmi specific cables for saturn and dreamcast consoles.

2 of each and still wasnt happy ,Saturn cables had a myriad of issues , poor video quality , too dark a picture , bad pal60 compatability with a 60htz modded pal console, screen cutting out on resolution changes , 60htz picture offset meaning bars at the bottom of the screen and the top of the screen missing.

First dreamcast cable Ibuaed was poor quality , second one , the newer Kaico whte onenis fairly decent but has bad dithering and faint diagonal lines which are actually a symptom of the dreamcast running on a non crt screen but apart from that was acceptable with pin sharp graohics- the real issue I had was not being able to use a dreamshell adapter at the same time ecause the kaico is ao big and clunky and bloks the serial port .

Setvthe gbs-c up last night .
First try was with the saturn using a scart rgb cable I've had years.
Straight off the bat video and audio quality is absolutely sterling .Swicthing the saturn from 50htz to 60 htz works flawlessly , gbs-c automatically changes output resolution and refresh rate on the fly.
Ive had a tinker with settings and the picture can actually be improved substantially , the scanline function works perfectly on old 2d style 240p games.

So many options from the web interface to tinker with should you feel the need.

Onto dreamcast using a scart rgb cable.
Same outcome as the saturn in all fairness .Looks fine on a 50inch tv , slightly blurry compared to the kaico cable but remnants/dithering virtually invisible now - this otpion may suit some people better.

On a whim even though 've been led to believe the gbs-c doesnt support dreamcast vga output I tried my old blaze vga adapter into the gbs-c along with 3.5mm audio out to rca innon the gbs-c.
Stunned , works perfectly , pin sharp picture , auto switching on 50/60htz titles.
Happy as a pig in muck 😀

It may cost £60 but I've wasted more money that that on subpar cables already and this thinn should work with anything now be it vga, component or scart related.

One issue , on a philips pus 8 series android tv theres a flashing notification of 'incompatible video format'.
Apparantly this also happens with the ossc and with the retrotink so it appears it's a tv issue more than anything else but prospective biyers ahould be aware.

For a 50/60htz modded sega saturn this box is an absolute necessity and is well worth the money.

This is a great device however mine has developed an issue if I have a device plugged in on component and scart then the device plugged in through the component cable, for example my Wii, looses virtually all volume for that device unless I unplug the scart lead. This is so frustrating. Otherwise it does a great job. However I’m not sure how long it will last as I have to continually ugh and unplugged the scart cable. This device was not cheap, so I am quite disappointed.

Upon intially turning it on, it seemed good, I have had two of the 'traditional' GBS untis from Ali-Express that both had Scart sockets that stopped working so went for this one. Once set on RGBS switch it seemed to be working fine.....then it began to lose signal every 15 seconds or so, regardless of the screen resolution or anything you did in the settings. Unfortunately I could not try to update the firmware as I discovered the mini USB port simply did not work. It didn't seem to be quite lined up right with the slot in the case but even with the cable fully inserted it didn't work. Decided to return and unsure if I should bother trying another.....

The built in diaplay allows to switch between resolutions on th fly and save your favourite presets. Interestingly the 1920x1080 resolution displays at 4:3 aspect ratio instead of 16:9.

The box is bigger than I expected, as big as PS2 controller. You might want to consider that if you lack free space around your console.

The biggest benefit of this upscaler for me is that I can play every game without issues now. Some games have trouble displaying image through component cables and ODV fixes that problem completely.

I'm looking forward to testing more games with it. So far I am very happy.

While it's still the basic GBS-C, and therefore a decent upscaler for most retro consoles, unfortunately this model seems to lack an external clock generator meaning you will get screen tearing (like vysnc turned off). The virtual vsync option (active frametime lock) is broken, meaning your picture will drop out constantly. I'd recommend going for the Kaico version of the GBS-C, which is just a clone of the gold standard GBS-C model.
