Love the new Xbox ...however....

Love the new Xbox ...however....
I have been waiting over 3 year for Microsoft to bring out a slimmer version of the Xbox one and it was worth the wait! The console runs perfect. I love the fact you can start one app/game, then move on to another one and if you want to go back to get first one you can pick up from when you last left of from. It's a very quiet console unlike my old 360. Overall I love it!I gave it 4/5 stars for a number of reasons...You don't get a headset with it unlike the old consoles but you do get a HDMI cable but I would have preferred to have the head set.The fact that it says it's 2TB.....it is BUT 400 GB of the 2TB is software and what not. At the moment mine says 1.5 TB free of 1.6 TB on my console (I have a game and some apps installed). It's a bit like the iPhone, having a 16GB phone but half of that is already used up by the software :p I do wish company's would tell you the real space you have!!You have to install the game before you play it (I don't mind this) but it downloads the game from the Internet, so if you have a slow speed connection it's going to take for ever. What I do recommend is that is you unplug your internet or turn off the wifi on the console. This allows for it to download from the disk.Overall one happy customer!

A very good console overall. First of all the gaming side of things, it plays all games a lot smoother and quieter ( you can hardly tell its on) and backwards compatible is a great feature still. It also has HDR built in ( High Dynamic Range) with TV's that support it, this gives you deeper blacks and brighter whites in the colour spectrum. The HDR works really well in films, games and tv shows to. What makes this console even better is that it has a 4k UHD drive built in as well, which plays native 4k UHD films at 2160P like dead pool and x-men. You do need a 4k tv too and one with HDR support to really see the step up, my 4k tv doesn't have HDR but it is still a very nice crisp, bright colour image. At the current price it is still well cheaper than a 4k player and you get a games console too. Only negative is that is only up scales games to 4k not native 4k but we new this from the word go so no biggie, so I would recommend this especially if you have a 4k tv or want a smoother, quieter xbox one. The Audio is fantastic rivals my current sound system! Being smaller and more compact is another great feature and having the power brick inside is a welcomed change no more hiding round the back of tv.

    out of 5 ( 1 poor 5 excellent)
    Gaming - 5
    4k drive - 5
Audio output - 5 ( was really positively surprised)
    4k up scale for games - 5
    native 4k gaming - 0 (doesn't support 4k gaming, only negative)

Microsoft Xbox One S 2TB Console

Fantastic console with only one drawback. There seems to be a sync issue when playing Blu-ray (and possibly DVD, but haven't tried that). It is only slight, and I may not have noticed it if I hadn't read a review where it was mentioned. Now, it annoys the hell out of me! It's like that one dead pixel on your monitor. When you know it's there, you can't miss it. Maybe if and when they have a third party player that you can use the problem will go away. Maybe even an update to their app may address the problem. Don't let this put you off, though. It is still a great gaming console as well as a more than capable UHD player (Sony take note!!!). Doesn't play games in 4k, but not too worried about that. I have a PS4 Pro on pre-order, so I can give 4k gaming a go come November 10. Not really expecting much to be honest. I doubt it's 'true' 4k. When a £700 PC graphics card can struggle with 4k, I doubt a £350 console can fare any better!

    ****Edit 9th January 2017****

I take back my comment about not letting the sync issue put you off buying this console. If I could go back in time, there is no way I would have bought this POS. The sync issue on Blu-ray is driving me mad. So much so that I will now only use it for 4K Blu-ray. I changed the audio output to uncompressed stereo, which improved it for 4K, but not for standard Blu-ray. I now use the PS4 Pro instead. Apparently, this issue has been around since the release of the Xbox One, so Microsoft have had years to sort this out. Whether it is to do with the app, or whether it is to do with the hardware, I do not know, but Microsoft should be disgusted with themselves. I was going to buy the Scorpio on release day, but Microsoft can go shove it where the sun don't shine. I should have known not to trust what is predominantly a software company with anything hardware-based.

I wanna be honest. I love Xbox, I've been using Xbox since the first one came out bundled with the original Halo game.

I bought a couple of 360 and then, once the one was released, I bought an Xbox one as well.
I used my old Xbox one for a year, and then I pre-ordered the ONE S.

I don't really understand if it's just me, but I find the new one (I'm talking of both Original and S) to be slow.

    Booting up: Slow
    Start a game download: Slow
    Open friends activity: Slow
    Power off: Slow

Now, before you start to get mad at me and say "you have to enable "always on" feature for boot up time and everything else is slow because of your internet connection...", let me tell you that I already know all of this.

What I don't understand is how is it even possible that with a pretty fast connection (i have a 20mb connection plugged in using an ethernet cable cat6, so the internet it's not slow), the console is still quite laggy in navigation.

Don't get me wrong, games are fine and there are quite some nice improvements between this one and the original, especially with noise and heating (my old one was getting really hot and quite noisy when trying to lower its temperature).

Don't get me wrong, I still love Xbox, I just feel that it needs improvements for certain aspects. It may be that all these issues are on the software side (pretty certain that they are), but even when updates are released, I don't see any improvement in speed and navigation.

Since everything needs to be connected, I feel like some improvements need to be taken to provide a better experience when using Xbox.

Something else that really drove me mad, was the fact that I purchased a 2TB console, and the available space, on first boot, was 1.5TB!

Again, I know that the partition type used by Microsoft eats up a lot of space, but 500gb is the same size my previous Xbox had available as storage space!

I think 500gb only for the software is definitely too much!!
Another aspect I hope they will tackle at some point in the future.

Overall, i like my Xbox, and I'll never replace it with anything else.
