I bought this as I needed something to mount my guide scope into since I had no way of attaching it to my Lens directly. I'm using a Samyang Len which doesn't have a collar. This was good in a pinch as I had no other alternative at the time.

I'd say that the only drawbacks to this product are
1. You have to make sure it's tight in the camera shoe for it to be stable.
2. You only have one mount screw to tighten whatever sits in the dovetail.

Bought 3 - one of them that I purchased had the cold shoe adapter at an angle to the dovetail (making it useless) so I had to put it in a vice and break the glue seal then reglue it straight. The other two were fine. The cold shoes are a little on the small size so does not slide in accurately straight but after tightening the locking nut they stay where I put them.

If you are into astrophotography and don't have a spot to mount your ASI AIR, this little mount works great. I have the ASI AIR Mini and attach it to this NEEWER mount on the top of my Canon R6 where a flash would normally go. The mount is metal and good quality. A good thing to have in your kit just in case. I haven't tried using a tracking scope on it as I usually have that on my telescope, but I'm sure it is possible using this mount + camera + tracking scope + tracking camera since it's all about tracking the movement of the stars within the field of view.
