I would like to add that contrary to other reviews on alarm clocks I have read that made me cross I am not buying this for an old geriatric relative. I am 50 and still have all my faculties ( well the ones God gave me all those years ago anyway!) but I don't want a highly technical gadget for an alrm clock when the good old sort suits just fine.

If you buy one for yourself rather than for an octogenarian good for you! Rebel !

It is very silent but when the alarm isn't on it does click loudly as it goes past it so we have to move it at weekends otherwise the click would wake us. Not the best looking clock but partner likes it because its reliable which is obviously more important in an alarm clock!

The one main problem is that it is impossible to see in the dark, as the hands are not luminous (I bought the clock because I thought they were). You have to push the top to illuminate the face. I bought this as I wanted a large clock I could see without my glasses in the night and I thought acctim was a good make. The clock was indeed large and easy to read but unfortunately it could not keep time. After a week or so it started getting slower and slower, at the rate of about 30 mins a day. I changed the batteries it seemed fine....for a week....then started to slow down, at the rate of about 30 mins a day again. After the 4th set of batteries I threw it away - an alarm clock that slows down so dramatically that it needs a battery change every week is no use. I wish I had returned it but I did not have the packaging.
I am going to buy a Seiko - they are more expensive but my last Seiko was still going strong after 10 years and was only replaced because I lent it to my daughter to take on holiday and she left it in a hotel in Florida!

It looks as pictured and so far, the time is accurate, but there is only one alarm clock knob that sets both the time and alarm. Mine came off as I pulled it out to set the clock. Also, the hands only illuminate once in awhile, not every night or all night long. It is hard to set an exact time to wake up and the snooze is only 5 minutes. I think mine was defective so luckily got it refunded. It would have been nice if it worked differently.
