I've only used this to clean hard floors - I think it would be useless on rugs, despite the manufacturer saying it's OK. On our Karndean and Laminate floors it works well, and I manage to do three large rooms before the battery dies.
A few tips:
- Always walk away from the cleaned area (i.e. work backwards). That way a) you won't leave footprints on wet floors, and b) you won't get streaks.
- Don't keep the detergent trigger pressed all the time. Press it on the away stroke, and then release it as you draw the machine back. In fact on only lightly soiled floors you can just press the trigger intermittently on the away stroke, it doesn't need the full thing.
- It cleans closer to the edges than it does with the front of the machine, so always wash around the edges with a parallel motion. In our kitchen I do the edges first, then move on to the main clean.
- When you switch off it can leave a small puddle of soapy water, so keep the machine running when you lift it off the floor.
I hope that helps some people.
Overall it's a great machine, and picks up loads more dirt than a mop and bucket. Plus you're always using clean water, whereas with a bucket you're washing the floor with soup!
