So we actually already work with leather and have done for years so most of the kit we have experience of.
First impressions is that the case is very basic and is not ideal to hold a leather kit in because there are no pockets or sections to store anything in. It's all just thrown in there together so in an ideal world, if you intend on keeping it as a hobby and all in one place then you may be best getting yourself one with proper sections in or some toll rolls to go into the case itself
As for the contents... .
For the current price (around £60) this kit surprisingly contains a lot of stuff and is a really good starter kit and even included a couple of extra items not listed ie the poundo board (the see through yellow mat) which you use under the mat when stamping to dull the noise and the perspex block which is used when stamping leather or with the eyelets so they are a bonus.
I tried out some of the tools and most seemed sharp enough and average quality. Enough to work out what you use regularly before upgrading to the expensive tools.
Couple of minor things..
- the hole punches didn't come with a 3mm punch - seems this one has been missed out on my kit. Some of the punches are sharp and cut through the leather easily. Some didn't - but I tested them all the same with equal hammer pounds and it also depends on the thickness of leather you use of course.
- it includes cotton daubs but no leather dye so you will need to buy this separately.
-The waxed cotton is good but a dark brown would have been useful over the orange one. Or a natural tan.
- the leather skiver is more of a craft pen and not ideal. You need a proper skiving tool to thin the leather down correctly.
I would have been very happy when starting out to get this kit and all for that price though as the stamps and letter stamps and all the individual tools are costly to buy so it's good value.
Lastly, I also like they that have included print out of the tools and what they are used for which is excellent.
