Ever wondered if your household items emit dangerous waves? This will let you know - audibly and visually. I've been round the house checking all sorts, from the microwave and TV to laptop, PC and PS5.

It's astounding what the devices do give out, but luckily (in my case) you need to be practically sitting on the items to be receiving any of these harmful emissions. Wonderful little device.

Proster emf meter - Somewhat works

I got this Proster emf meter to get a hint of emf values at my home. Compared to more professional meters (trifield and more expensive models) that I borrowed later, it reliably found clear eletric field and magnetic field sources, and gave reliable values. However, this meter was not suitabe to measure background magnetic (low-frequency) and eletric fields. When it comes to RF, this meter only found the biggest sources (mobile phone, network mast nearby), but did not find bluetooth or background radiation. It also gave 50 times higher rf values in my kitchen, than other meters. It still did find the source and was able to tell the direction, so cant be mad. I shielded the wall where it was coming with aluminium foil, and rf values on the meter disappeared. I felt the difference in my kitchen right away. I think this meter is valuable for first-time inspection on a place or apartment to find biggest emf sources.

I’ve been using this EMF and RF detector for a few weeks now, and I’ve found it to be a valuable tool. The device is easy to operate, with a clear display that shows both the EMF and RF levels. I particularly appreciate the ability to switch between milligauss and microtesla units, which is useful for different applications.

One of the standout features is the handheld design. It’s compact and lightweight, making it easy to take with you wherever you go. Additionally, the battery life seems to be quite good, so I haven’t had to worry about running out of power during my measurements.

If you’re concerned about electromagnetic radiation and want a simple, reliable device to measure it, I would highly recommend this one.

I have often wanted to check for radiation emissions of various kinds and this device now allows me to do this. Simple to use, just power on and after a short while after it settles down and starts detecting electromagnetic, radio and magnetic frequency emissions. The sensor is on the rear of the unit which makes sense when looking at the display on the front, it does however seem to be fairly omni directional as can be seen in my video where the RF readings increase as I bring my phone closer to the unit and then the EF readings increase as I move it closer to my laptop. The screen colour will cycle from green to orange to red as the detected levels move from safe to unsafe. The beeper can be turned off easily as can power save mode using the multi function buttons below the display. My only gripe with this device is that it takes a 9volt battery ( which was included ) rather than having a built in rechargeable one, not very green.

I help run a small community radio station. We often have to deal with technical things that are beyond our experience. For instance, recently we had a new transmitter aerial fitted on the roof, with a new transmitter unit (the thing that sends to the aerial) and they were both more high power than what we had. As the transmitter aerial is on the roof directly above the studio, we were a bit concerned by the possibility of RF coming through the ceiling and interfering with the studio equipment. So I got this.

I'm certainly not an expert in these things, so it was useful to take readings at fixed positions before the upgrade, then take readings from the same fixed positions afterwards. We were getting a buzzing noise on one of the microphones, so this helped show that the increased transmission power might be responsible. We replaced the microphones and cables with higher impedance ones.

I can't look at the readings on this detector and understand exactly what they mean, but I can see when a reading has increased. This is really good for that. It's nice and simple, has a very clear screen and simple buttons. I love the carry case too.

I'm not able to say how sensitive or accurate the unit is, but it enabled an amateur like me to be able to take readings and communicate them to a radio engineer who doers know what they mean. And it really helped us deal with a problem we otherwise would have no idea about. Nice.

The device has become an essential gadget in my home. As a tech-savvy dad juggling a bunch of gadgets, it's crucial to ensure that our living space remains safe from unwanted electromagnetic emissions. From checking the RF emissions of my laptop to testing the EF levels around my son’s gaming console, this gadget does it all effortlessly. It’s easy to use; just power it on and wait a bit for it to calibrate. The screen colour, shifting from green to red, is particularly handy in indicating safe or unsafe levels at a glance. The sound alert can be turned off with ease, which I appreciate, especially when the kids are napping. However, it does run on a 9-volt battery, which isn't very eco-friendly.
