  I got this so that I could charge my laptop in the car, it seemed to do that effectively.
  the item comes with a car adaptor to go in a power point, and clips to add directly to a battery,
  I imagine you can't pull much current via the power point as it'd blow the fuse, connecting directly to the battery while running the engine would likely allow you to pull more power as there would be no issues with fuses.
  A friend has a some solar panels, connected to some batteries, which he runs low voltage devices, I'm going to lend him this to test out how it allows him to power a few 240 v devices in the out buildings.
