[Zone Positioning] The Aqara Presence Sensor FP2 (2.4GHz Wi-Fi REQUIRED) offers significant advantages over PIR infrared motion sensors by using a single radar sensor to monitor rooms of up to 40 m² (430 sq ft). You can also divide it into up to 30 zones, such as sofa, bed or desktop, etc. and set up individual automations for each zone. It is like having several PIR sensors at the same time with one Presence Sensor FP2. Please note: the FP2 is a wired sensor that should be constantly powered.
[Multi-Person & Fall Detection] The FP2 can simultaneously detect up to 5 people and trigger different scenarios and automation. Moreover, you can mount the FP2 on the ceiling and choose the Falling Detection Mode, which will detect and alert you through the app if someone falls. Aqara have produced one hell of a sensor.
The Lux sensor alone, is the fastest I’ve ever used. And that alone would be enough reason for me to buy more.
I have two of the original FP1 sensors, which I’m currently using and both have been faultless. Once setup properly.
But have been slow to detect presence. So still need a additional sensor to speed up motion detection and detect Lux levels.

Absolutely not the case with the FP2’s presence sensing and its ability to zone a room.

The down sides. The WiFi 2.4ghz only. Which makes it tricky to initially setup if your mesh router can’t split the networks.
So if your a sole android user. This could cause a problem.

As a IOS user and HomeKit user I had no such problem.
But the Aqare iOS app when used with this sensor is extremely slow to display the current position of presence.
Which gives the end user the belief that it’s not working as expected.
But when you switch over to the android app. Positioning updates of presence update in real time. So obviously a bug with the IOS app.

Home assistant. HomeKit integration works perfectly.
I was aware that the sensor doesn’t currently work with GH and can’t be exposed to GH via home assistant. But that’s easy to get around with a few helpers and exposing the helpers to GH if needed.
I will absolutely be buying more when available

I recently purchased the Aquara Presence Sensor from ��غ��, and overall, I'm quite satisfied with its performance. This sensor is a valuable addition to any smart home setup, but there are a few aspects that could use improvement, considering its relatively high price point.

First off, the physical installation of the sensor was a breeze. It came with clear instructions, and I had it up and running in no time. However, when it comes to the software, I must admit that it can be a bit challenging to navigate. The setup process could have been made more user-friendly, as it took some trial and error to get everything working smoothly.

In terms of sensing capabilities, the Aquara Presence Sensor excels. It accurately detects movement and presence, allowing you to automate your smart home devices with precision. One notable advantage over traditional PIR sensors is that it knows exactly when you leave the room, ensuring that your devices respond accordingly. This feature is incredibly useful and provides a seamless experience.

I particularly enjoy the compatibility of this sensor with other smart devices. By using only a HomePod as a hub, I was able to effortlessly control my Hue and Nanoleaf bulbs. The convenience of not needing an additional Aquara hub is definitely a plus.

However, there are a couple of downsides worth mentioning. One of the most frustrating aspects is dealing with the sensor's cable. It can be a challenge to figure out the best placement for the cable, and it would have been more convenient if Aquara provided clearer guidance in this regard. Additionally, it's disappointing that a spare USB plug for power isn't included in the package. This means you'll need to find your own spare USB plug, which can be an inconvenience if you don't have one readily available.

The major drawback of the Aquara Presence Sensor is its price. It's relatively expensive, and considering its capabilities, I would suggest paying less than £50 for it. While it performs well, it doesn't introduce anything revolutionary to justify its higher price compared to other presence sensors on the market.

i got an fp1e today, throwing this fp2 in the bin after a year or so
it always gives false readings, i dont have a ceiling fan...
the cat confuses it,
zones kind of work, but its not accurate so the wrong zone would be triggered,
it claims multiple occupant sensor... me and 3 ghosts wasnt what i expected.
worst of all is home kit
boring technical bit:
I have 2x fp1 connected to home assistant with a zigbee adapter in my raspberry pi running HA.. not through aqara app... these work way better than any other sensor available, ( i tried a few)
So when the fp2 came out i was like raaa need to try that, look at all the cool things it says it can do.
In reality, it uses less power and disconnects reconnects.
some days you just walk in and its flashing and you need to set the whole thing up again. Then homekit which you need to use, because its a motion sensor to alexa not a presence sensor, well homekit says, already set up on another instance and then you throw your ipad out the window in a rage quit.
conclusion:
doesn't uphold to its promises
wifi (this) is slower than zigbee (fp1e)

the fp1 is only available in china and isnt supported on the aqara app... does work on home assistant though without hub ... yes no hub needed, just a zigbee dongle
the fp1e is supported in app (uk) look i just set it up in 3 mins.. i did it in the aqara app... it did auto to home kit and alexa... through the hub yes... and then i wrote a script for it in home assistant 2 mins later. I dont know why it was so easy..
actually the better question, is why is this fp2 so hard and why doesnt it do what it says it does.

quick note... this will detect if an old person fell over in their home... you could write a script to call ambulance straight away, doubt an old person
could, but that function, could be useful to someone.

It has WAY more capabilities than I need. It can separately analyze 30 different zones within the room, and each can have a separate automation. I like the LUX sensor, as I can use it to control when lights come on. Think sunset is not necessarily a requirement, amount of light is! For my purposes, this unit is overkill, but I have never shied away from over engineering a solution to a problem ! I would only monitor a couple areas, at most, and for my particular application, use just two, but could use just one. I could see in a open concept room, doing half a dozen automations with one sensor. Do note, it is important to set the room size. On the high sensitivity setting, this sensor can see through walls. It knew I was sleeping next to my office, thus presence is detected causing some issues with automations. When i turned the sensitivity to medium, that was no longer an issue. The computer fan seemed to make it think there were two people in my office, when that was not true. Medium sensitivity seems to have fixed that. I am aware i can create no sense zones, but not done that yet either. I recommend this product, just be prepared to experiment with the settings to get it dialed into your environment. Reflections off metal (computer) can cause weird presence detections. I have lots more experimenting to do, and am looking forward to it. Aqara just announced another one - FP1E - with similar capabilities but without all the zones, and is cheaper. However, it runs on the Zigbee network, not WiFi, like the FP2. I wanted WiFi for my particular application. MMWave sensors are fascinating, and the FP2 is worth having a close look at for your situation.

Lo utilicé junto al sensor de puerta y ventana, también de Aqara, para automatizar el encendido de luces al abrir la puerta del baño. Esto hace con que no tenga que utilizar interruptores en este espacio, ya que al entrar se enciende la luz y al no detectar más presencia en el ambiente se apagan.
Se puede hacer fácilmente esta automatización utilizando focos de Aqara, sin embargo utilizo los de Philips y tuve que hacer la integración por medio de Home Assistant, aunque se puede hacer también con HomeKit, Alexa o Google Assistant.

La configuración es bastante sencilla. Inicialmente tardaba un poco en detectar falta de presencia, pero después de un tiempo ya empezó a trabajar correctamente.
Es muy importante mencionar que la función de IA disponible en la aplicación no funciona muy bien y tiende a presentar muchos problemas con "fantasmas", por lo que no se recomienda activar inicialmente y acompañar el desarrollo de esta función por los canales de Aqara.

Ok first, earlier reviews that talk about the shortcomings of the app and installation were on point at the time of their writing, however, with updates to the app and device, that is no longer the case. The app is much more intuitive and I’ve had no issues with detection and clearing. So much so, I now have three. I have one in the master bathroom, one in the kitchen, and another in the garage. These are all places where we might be for a while, moving too little for a traditional PIR motion sensor to pick up that we’re still present and so cut off the lights on us. This sensor is double the price of other motion sensors out there, but then there is a Great Deal more going on under the hood with this sensor. Also, the device is not battery powered, which I love. One less to keep up with and given all that it’s doing, you would be constantly changing the batteries anyway.

Now if you want to add this device to Home Assistant as I did (it was useless to me otherwise), that too is an absolute breeze as an Apple iOS user, as long as you know how to do it - Apologies , I cannot speak for the Android path. There’s only one video out there describing it. It’s important that you know that this device DOES NOT require the Aqara hub as their customer service will tell you. In fact, it’s actually incompatible with it. The hub is used to add Zigbee based devices and the FP2 is WiFi based. It does not use Matter for the connection either. When adding the FP2 via the Aqara Home app in iOS, the app will automatically add the device to the Apple Home app. Once the entire set up m/config process is complete, you just need to open the Apple Home app, use the ellipsis in the upper-right to navigate to the room you selected for the device and remove either the luminosity or presence sensor from the app. Now open Home Assistant, navigate to Settings —> Devices and look for an as yet configured HomeKit integration with “FP2” in the name. Click configure and it will ask you for the 8 digit PIN code that is just above the QR code located on the swing arm on the back of the FP2 sensor. Once entered, the device is now available for automations and you done.

Again, while this process is a cinch to execute, it is anything but intuitive so the process could either use some work or at the least they should make that process clear in the instructions or that the sensor ties itself to Apple Homekit. I also think they should make it clear in both the instructions and on the item page in ��غ�� that the FP2 cannot be added to the Aqara hub rendering the hub irrelevant for the FP2.

Other than that, this sensor hits all the marks and is Exactly what we needed.

Wenn man sich die Zeit nimmt, den Sensor korrekt zu kalibrieren und gemäß den Anweisungen anzubringen (z. B. in der richtigen Höhe und mit freier Sichtlinie), funktioniert er absolut zuverlässig. Wer glaubt, das Gerät einfach irgendwohin kleben zu können und sofort perfekte Ergebnisse zu bekommen, darf sich nicht wundern, wenn es nicht optimal läuft.

Besonders beeindruckend finde ich die Integration in verschiedene Smart-Home-Systeme – sei es HomeKit, Alexa, Google Home oder Home Assistant. Der Sensor ist vielseitig einsetzbar, sei es zur Lichtsteuerung, für Sicherheitszwecke oder zur Anwesenheitserkennung in Räumen.

Mein Fazit: Der Aqara FP2 ist eine großartige Investition für alle, die ein präzises und vielseitiges Gerät suchen. Wer schlechte Ergebnisse hat, sollte vielleicht erst einmal die eigene Installation überprüfen, bevor das Produkt kritisiert wird. Klare Kaufempfehlung! 👌 (wenn man weiß was man tut)

Ik ga deze melder gebruiken om enkele ruimtes die met elkaar verbonden zijn in één keer goed te in kaart te brengen (met een Aqara hub) en zo de verlichting slim te kunnen schakelen.
Ben benieuwd of dit goed gaat lukken maar na het zien van wat Youtube videos zal ik probleemloos moeten gaan.
Mocht het toch niet helemaal gaan zoals ik wil dan is het een optie om eventueel nog een te bestellen en die toe te voegen.
