This SmallRig RT25 RGBWW LED light wand comes in a water resistant case that is 54cm long and 8cm wide that fits the light wand comfortably. The wand itself is 42cm long and just over 4cm wide and 4cm deep with a rounded triangle cross section that fits comfortably in the hand.
The diffuser feels like a tough plastic and the rest of it is metal - it weighs 577g. At one end is a quarter inch BSW fitting for mounting it on anything relating to cameras and at the other end is a socket for a three-pronged bayonet fitting that is on the battery handle that is not supplied with this. There is no internal battery for powering the light and instead, you have to use the USB C socket.
Along either side are four slots in total which are for barn doors which again, are not supplied.
The back of the lamp has a NATO rail running long the length of it so, with an adaptor, you can mount it virtually anywhere along its length. If you don't use NATO fittings, there are two places - one in the middle and the other at the end - where there are 1/4" and 3/8" tapped holes along with locating holes.
At the other end of the back is the control panel which comprises of: an on-off switch; a display that is 22mm by 11mm; two buttons and a dial that has push functionality. Using these, you can select various modes including colour temperature, RGB and various special effects.
If you are using a USB C source or lead that does not support the PD charging, you are limited to just 20 per cent of power usage which, at one metre and with a colour temperature of 5,600k, gives 180 lux. With a PD supported charger or D-Tap block and cable, you get the full 100 per cent of power output which gives 600 lux under the same conditions.
This is quite a capable lamp, it produces a lot of light in a lot of interesting ways. However, it misses out on there not being any wireless control from a smartphone app and, without the power handle, having the only option for supplying power to it as a USB C limits it quite a lot.
