The build on the board is great and it is easy to mount the drive and get going. Comes with spare hardware and a spare ribbon cable. I do love how it uses pogo pins to get power, so smart and much neater than using jumper cables to get it. Mounting on the bottom as well is much neater and allows you to use the fans, or POE HAT on top without restricting airflow.

As a caveat, you will need to configure the Pi5 to boot from the NVMe, this can be done easily with a pre built image from the raspberry pi image tool.

Once that is done you can treat the NVME as a normal memory card to the PI. I have solar monitoring running on mine to monitor two solar inverters, the NVME gives much better reliability compared to the SD card. It is also a fair bit faster!

My only problem is that there isn't a case that fits this board, or at least if there is i have not found it yet! I am currently using a modified 3D printed case until i can find a proper one.

The RPi bottom is relatively easy to install. The first time I used it, I got no recognition of the drive. I had to reseat the cable a couple of times before it was recognised. It's rather small and fiddly. But once you secure it, it works well, with good speeds and no issues running!

Mounted it in my raspberry Pi 5 based NAS, and i can know transfer dater at a max speed of 1GBit/s (max of cat6 Ethernet cable) continuously. Seting everything up also took less than 10min, including mounting the board, setting up the nvme ssd, and setting it to PCIe 3.0.

Rispetto ad altri modelli accetta tutte le tipologie di dischi M.2 compreso il pieno formato 2280 di cui spesso se ne dispone quando si sostituisce sul pc fisso per aggiornarne la dimensione.
Si monta in pochi minuti alla base del Raspberry con i suoi distanziali in ottone, non richiede saldature, l’interfacciamento è con i pratici pogo pins ed un cavo piatto per i segnali del bus PCIe, dal file config.txt si seleziona come indicato sul manuale lo standard PCI Express Gen 2 o Gen 3 a seconda di quello che supporta il disco, nel mio caso con Gen 3 la velocità di trasferimento è stata di circa 6 volte superiore rispetto alla schedina sd, con questo upgrade il Raspberry è in grado di competere con pc entry level, l’unica avvertenza è data dalla necessità di procurarsi un box specifico dalle dimensioni corrette, sono molto soddisfatto del funzionamento.
