In a nutshell:

Things I liked:

+ Setup and operation is absolutely fine. It's simply plug-and-play.
+ It's a fifth of the price (!) of the official Apple adapter.

Things I didn't like:

- It's not HDCP compatible. This means that any app that uses an HDCP HDMI protection system (to prevent unauthorised copying etc) will not work with the HDMI port on this adapter. I think the official adapter from Apple is HDCP compliant though. Long story short - it won't show protected content from an app that uses HDCP.

Do I recommend it?

Yes, for basic screen mirroring (e.g. showing your photos on a big screen). However, if you're planning on using this with streaming apps, be aware that they might be locked down and unable to play through this because of the lack of HDCP compliance.

This is a great and well working hdmi output device for the iPhone 14 and below devices that works perfectly, you plug it in and it brings the display to your TV/monitor after a few seconds and looks good, plays well and works exactly as they describe.

It is however now HDCP (they do state this just making it noted), this means most streaming services like Netflix will not work, this is not for playing these premium services from phone to TV sadly, it does work for YouTube tho, as well as flicking through photo's if your showing the latest holiday snaps :)

Simply, I needed a cable to send a good quality feed from my phone to my television, because the casting feature often throws up slight troubles. This works and worked first time, without me needing to refer to the instructions. I use an iPhone so I cannot comment on whether this works with other phones. This has also changed the way I complete video calls with family and friends.

Worked out of the box when used to deliver short presentations from the iPhone to the projector (the projector comes with a regular HDMI cable).

These adapters never work with Netflix or similar as these applications have protections that don't allow sending the signal to another device using an adapter. It's not a defect in the adapter, it's like that by design.

But as my use case involved presentations with multimedia embedded in, it worked out of the box without any trouble.
