The alarm wakes me 100% of the time but gently as I have it on its quietest and set to my fave radio station.
No more loud alarms 🚨 waking the whole house.

No more need for mobile phone in the bedroom. Do your research here, worst thing is to let your kids have a phone in the bedroom, especially for their sleep. Very hypocritical to keep your own if they are not allowed. Eaiser to have a ‘house rule’.

Nice radio with some quirky button design choices

Works well for me in DAB mode even with antenna at less than full length.

The sound is very clear but I would like more bass.

When the SCAN button is pressed, the presets are removed and the first station starts playing. Great during setup but not convenient when all you wanted to do was to press the adjacent SLEEP button as you settled down for the night. I have put a piece of tape over the SCAN button as a tactile indicator that it is not the SLEEP button.

The volume buttons are disabled when the radio is waiting for SELECT to be pressed. That confused me after pressing SLEEP because the selected sleep time is effective when SELECT has not been pressed. That's different from while using the Skip back and Skip forward buttons to move between stations when the station selection is not effective until SELECT is pressed. Conventionally devices time out of waiting for a selection to be confirmed.

My quest for a DAB radio that ticked all boxes was a long one. Strictly speaking, it's not over. However, the Azatom Revial R1 is as close to perfect as I've found so far and I have to say, I'm happy with it. My previous Ocean Digital radio was approximately 15 years old. The screen started going and I knew it was time to find another one. I went through several Pure radios (Elan, Siesta), VQ, Denver and not one of them could tick all boxes. The must haves were DAB, 2 alarms, decent sound and good dimming qualities - not such a tall order I don't think. The closest that I came to this was with the Denver radio, but it was just too bright at night. In came the Azatom radio - DAB+, good sound, 2 alarms and a button to toggle the dimming of the screen. Whilst I still feel the dimming could be slightly better, you can turn it off completely if you wish. The fact you can easily toggle the brightness gets the thumbs up from me. The radio is easy to operate once you get the hang of it, looks sleek and smart and it also has a metal antenna as opposed to the cable antenna, which I much prefer. It's picked up all the stations I was looking for and so far I am happy with how it's performed. You have the option of a buzzer alarm or radio, which is great. There's also a steady increase in the radio volume in the morning which I think is a nice touch. You can also control the volume as you like for the alarm. On many other radios I've tried the minimum volume for the alarm is so high, it would wake you with such a start - why oh why would anyone create a radio like this is beyond me. No such problem with the Azatom though :)

As a side note: I noticed that when I first tuned the radio and it started playing Absolute 80s, the time was off by 1 minute. I e-mailed Azatom who were very quick to respond and told me that it was likely based on the radio station I was listening to. I changed the station to Planet Rock but it was still a minute out. However, unplugging the radio and leaving it for a moment before powering it back on sorted it straight away. You also have the bonus of being able to register your product for an extended 3 year warranty. I think this shows they trust their product. Thank you Azatom :)

Just require a simple radio alarm clock, preferably one that doesn’t pollute the room with white light.
All alarms seem to have white LCD displays, as opposed to the old red displays which were easier on the eyes at night.
The big advantage of this is the ability to not only dim the display but turn it off completely.
I’ve purchased Azatom products before, so I’m familiar with their excellent customer service which also guided my purchase.
Good reception on DAB even with aerial down, decent sound, feels a quality item.

Great looking radio alarm clock which works well. The sound quality is great, it plays both DAB and music from my phone. The clock is dimmable which is brilliant and it has two alarms. Unfortunately all the buttons are the same which looks good but not so easy to use if wanting to be quick or when sleepy. Setting the alarm is time consuming and again the same buttons can cause issues. My only other gripe is the symbol to show the alarm is on is very small and I keep having to double check it’s on after not setting it properly several times.
