Product description
On sale for less than a year - get it while you can.
After high-kicking Hong Kong cop Eddie Yang (Jackie Chan, ‘Rush Hour’) dies in the line of duty, he finds himself reanimated by an ancient mystic talisman, now with superpowers at his disposal! His return stuns his former girlfriend Nicole James (Claire Forlani, ‘Meet Joe Black’) and partner Arthur Watson (Lee Evans, ‘There’s Something About Mary’). The trio must rejoin forces to take on a similarly supernaturally enhanced villain, Snakehead (Julian Sands, ‘Warlock’) and his right- hand man Calvin (Scott Adkins, ‘John Wick 4’). Shot in English in the UK by director Gordon Chan (‘Fist of Legend’) and choreographer Sammo Hung (‘Ip Man’), ‘The Medallion’ delivers a whole new kind of magic to a Jackie Chan action epic!

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 24 August 2024Very good film with an excellent story line
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 19 January 2024Jackie changed gets to do what he does best. Ðo action scenes and getting laughs from audiences
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 1 September 2008this is a great sunday afternoon film with some laugh out loud moments. Jackie Chan is brilliant as usual throwing himself around and being thrown about by the bad guys. in addition Lee Evans stands alongside him well in his own right.
whilst the film does smack a little of The Golden Child it is different enough to be worth purchasing
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 30 May 2023What would you expect from Jackie Chan,, amazing cast excellent stunts, my only criticism is the baddy is very wooden. But on the whole a very enjoyable film
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 19 February 2024I read a lot about Highbinders at the time the movie was being produced in magazines like Impact, and it would have been interesting to see what the alternative original screenplay would have looked like with the majority of the deleted scenes included. But what we end up with is the renamed 'The Medallion' instead.
This is by no means the worst western JC movie produced and while it doesn't capture the same frenetic action and comedy highs as Rush Hour, it's an enjoyable romp from beginning to end.
Supporting actors Lee Evans (class as always) and Claire Forlani (who smoulders on screen and looks like she's having a good time - watch the deleted scenes!), are great additions to the cast that compliment JC well. John Rhys-Davies is always a joy to watch despite his limited appearance. Julian Sands (R.I.P) and the young Scott Adkins make for solid bad guys. Christy Chung plays Watson's (Evan's) wife but we never establish how or why her character is so proficient with a handgun and the like.
The CGI and wirework that's prevalent in the movie could have been dialled down to be more believable but then it was all the rage during that passage of time. It doesn't help showcase JCs martial art prowess that we all know and appreciate from his earlier movies.
The 88 release is rather barebones in comparison with its other catalogue releases. A reversible cover that on first appearance looks identical but it just doesn't display the age rating on the front. No booklet or poster to speak of. Given it was a single disc release a slim case would have been preferable.
You get commentary from the producer and director plus 14 deleted scenes of ropey quality but they help to illustrate what the original vision of the movie was. The only thing I'm grateful for is that they ditched the alternative ending which was worse than what we got.
It's a 3/5 release for me. I'm grateful I bought it during the CNY promotion as I don't think it justifies the RRP even if it comes in a classy foil slipcase.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 14 April 2013Who would have thought that British comedian, Lee Evans would have teamed up with the legendary Jackie Chan?
This is exactly what happens in this brilliant film about a cop who tries to save a young kidnapped boy. In the process, Jackie suffers a fatal accident, only to be saved by the boy and a strange medallion that not only brings him back to life, but makes him immortal with superhuman powers.
Evans plays an Interpol detective teamed up with Jackie in an attempt to stop the medallion from falling into the hands of the baddie, save the boy and his own family in this highly enjoyable romp.
