This is the best movie ever!!.. well, that is according to my 6-year old youngling. He has seen it 15 times now - always with loud cheers towards the end. As such, he is extremely well-qualified to judge it. He claims it is even better than Return of the Jedi, that he has seen at least 50 times. That says quite something. So you can stop here and push the Buy-button.If you are interested in my opinion, as a wrinkly, old day-1 Star Wars fan; I was less impressed the first time I saw the Rise of Skywalker. My rant is below but I’m not dismissing the movie. I’ve watched it three times now, the 2nd and 3rd time were better than the 1 first. And I will still enjoy watching the movie multiple times in the future as even more than most Star Wars movies this one is filled to the brim with new colourful characters, aliens and locations. And every time you watch it, you will discover something new. It is a stunning visual feast with great fx and digital effects. The 4K version that I bought for our brand new 4K player is super sharp with deep contracts and of course, extremely high resolution - making it even more of a very pleasant, immersive viewing experience. The movie is already worth seeing to marvel at the designs of the new spaceships, planets and definitely the wealth of new monsters and aliens. While keeping in mind that this remains space opera, I thought there was appropriate acting and interaction between the lead players . Some of the characters are quite intriguing or funny, like my son’s favourites Babu Frik, D.O. or Zorri Bliss - even though you can wonder what exactly the point of their inclusion was.And frankly, my young Jedi’s enthusiasm proves that the movie successfully reached a very important part of its target audience. However … I had hoped that after the Last Jedi - that, to say it kindly, rubbed me against my galactic grain - we would get a more straightforward movie. Yet one at least as intriguing as the The Force Awakens. And given how tightly Disney controls the franchise I had decent hopes of that. The problem is that the Rise of Skywalker not only tries to deal with a lot of open ends from throughout trilogy, it also throws in more complexity, unnecessary twists and new open questions that remain unanswered (the whereabouts and survival of Palpatine, Liea’s training, new jedi and unexplained powers).. It inserts key characters from the past which would not have been necessary at all. And there are things like hyper-speed skipping.. that’s even worse than midichlorians! In short, this is not a Star Wars movie that ranks in my top 10. It simply confirmed by bad feeling about appointing multiple directors across a trilogy and giving each too much storyline freedom. As a result we get a somewhat upsetting, puzzling conclusion to what was supposed to be the epic end of a story that was started 43 years ago and that viewers spent many, many hours on.. It does show, despite a few minor failings, how great a storyteller George Lucas is.Well, that was just my humble opinion on the movie’s main shortcoming; the storyline. But in fact, I and fellow Star Wars fans shouldn’t complain; The Rise of Skywalker follows two, in my humble opinion, great Star Wars movies; Roque One and Solo. And then over recent months we were treated by the Mandalorian tv series, an original story, brilliant in its simplicity. Me my family thoroughly enjoyed that Star Wars experience that at least made many of my galactic dreams come true.Ah well, you shouldn’t take my muttering serious. My son might be a better reference. After all, I rank The Phantom Menace as one of my favourite Star Wars movies! Also don’t take offence by any Stars Wars movie opinion as there are as many of these as there are drops of water in the seas of Kamino.

Great discs, Good quality movie on both 4K and Blu Ray discs
    The story so far...
Palpatine at some point goes to Tatooine and uses midiclorians to get Shmi Skywalker up the duff,
he also has relations with another unknown woman, but we never see who.
Palpatines Son Anakin Skywalker is mistaken by Yoda and the Jedi order for the chosen one and trained to become a Jedi by Obi-Wan kenobi,
Anakin meets a Queen and falls in love, Amidala messes with his head a bit and both refuse to get proper acting lessons,
Anakin goes off on one and finds his mum, who, missing for a month and only dies in his arms literally minutes after finding her, he then loses his temper and in a tantrum kills an entire tribe of Tusken Raiders.
Anakin and Padme get married in secret even though there is no chemistry at all between them and then gets her up the duff.
Anakin's acting is so bad he turns to the dark side and becomes Darth Vader and given a better voice,
Padme while dying gives birth to twins and names them Luke and Leia,
Leia gets adopted by a senator on the doomed planet of Alderaan and Luke gets dumped on Tatooine by Obi-wan with his Aunt and Uncle that nobody had ever met but somehow knew to take them to this couple of complete strangers.
Leia gets given some plans to the Death Star and gets captured by her dad, but sends the plans to Obi-wan Kenobi in a droid that he has met a thousand times before but doesn't know,
Luke tags along with Obi-wan and meets Han Solo and Chewbacca who takes them to a now destroyed Alderaan, they all get captured, Obi-wan gets himself killed by Palpatines son and then the others rescue Leia and escape with the plans,
Luke blows up the Death Star with one shot in and X-Wing Fighter and run away and hide on the freezing ciold ice planet of Hoth.
Luke gets injured and snogs Leia.
Vader tracks the rebels to Hoth and has twigged that Luke is his son, captures the others and uses them as bait for Luke, meanwhile Luke gets some training from Yoda and the dead Obi-wan before going off to try and rescue his friends, han gets frozen and shipped off to Tatooine
Vader cuts off his sons hand, Luke escapes and they plan a rescue attempt for Han,
Luke and the gang rescue Han and head back to the rebel alliance, Luke revisits Yoda and finds out that Lei, who he snogged, is his Sister and head bat to meet up with the others,
Holy crap on a biscuit, they discover that the empire had a buy one get one free offer on Death stars and now have to blow up another one,
Luke and the gang go the endor to take down a shield generator protecting the half built death star,
the rebel fleet head off to blow up the death star,
Luke gives himself up to Vader and goes with him to meet his grandfather palpatine, who then tries to kill him, Vader saves his son by supposedly killing his dad,
Han and Leia finally get the shield down and the Death Star get blown up once again,
Luke trains Leia in the force, Han and Leia have a kid and Luke tries to train him but instead Ben Solo runs off and joins the darkside and the empire who have recovered from their thrashing on endor.
Meanwhile, Palpatine's granddaughter Rey is revealed to be living on a desert planet and was dumped there by her parents to stop her grandfather finding her and turning her to the darkside,
The rebels are searching for Luke to help them defeat the new empire
    hang on this sounds familiar...
a droid carrying maps to find Luke falls into her hands and she tries to get the plans to the rebellion,
she meets Finn and along the way also Han and Chewie who take them to the rebels led by Leia,
Rey who has Palpatines powers fights Ben Solo/Kylo Ren who is also technically Palpatines Great grandson, the rebels attack the death planet while Han destroys the shield generator, but he gets killed by his son.
The rebels blow up the death planet and Rey goes off and finds Luke.
Luke trains Rey and she runs off to try and turn Ben to the Light.
Ben kills his master and takes over the empire, chasing the last of the rebel fleet,
Luke and Ben fight allowing the remaining rebels to escape with Rey.
Luke dies of exhaustion and becomes one with the force,
Rey and Ben both find out that Palpatine is still alive and go to his planet to find an entire fleet of star destroyers now upgraded with death star guns, Ben turns to the light and helps Rey defeat Palpatine dying in the process,
the rebels destroy the entire fleet and the empire is no more,
rey goes to Tatooine to Luke's aunt and Uncle's place claiming it for her own and renaming herself Rey Skywalker.
    To be continued....

Good quality blu-ray at a great price. The movie was much more enjoyable this time than when I saw it originally in the cinema! Not as good as the original '70s & '80s original trilogy series but a very good afternoon's viewing all the same.
