STUNNING 4K TRANSFER!!
Just watched this 4K UHD Blu-ray of Star Wars: A New Hope. Now I’ve heard a lot of bad things about how this has been processed, transferred or whatever. I honestly haven’t got a clue what most of the technical stuff means but, I thought this looked absolutely fantastic. I have this on Blu-ray and the 4K version, in my opinion, blows it out of the water. It looks wonderfully sharp and clear and bright. The best that this film has ever looked. I can’t fault it.

    Absolutely worth adding to the silver disc collection!
    I was a little upset at the lack of Dolby Vision on this release and those after but I believe this was a 20th Century fox grading and I'll freely add it looks amazing even without Dolby vision.
    Rich colours with a more true to the orginal tonal curves , HDR pop is present in all the right places
    I'd put this with Rogue one on the visuals.
    The studio did a great job !

    The Atmos sound track works great on this series , space battles alonh with various scenes all have added depth thanks to this !

    No added extras but hey the original VHS has zero too!

    A truly classic film that has had the right amount of love given to it , bringing out it's best , film grain is present but finer really showing off the details on sets and characters

    As stated add it to your collection you won't be disappointed

    On a side note flicking between the Disney+ version the added brightness from Dolby vision in this particular case takes a way a little from the atmosphere of the film and in some cases has watered down the contrast in some scenes , by product is increased shadow details but I'll say I prefer the HDR variant in this particular case !

    I resisted buying this for a long time but when I watched it there was so much put right. There were two short scenes introduced for the Blu Ray, which were terrible, sky the wrong colour and no texture, sand the wrong colour and no texture. All now corrected. Then there's the vaseline for the speeder shots, now replaced by proper CGI. The sound on the Death Star has been completely overhauled. There is a hum that just extends forever, suggesting something very big. All this and other fixes I felt brings the film bang up to date.

    This is a review on the quality of the 4k version. This is the only SW film to be remastered by 20th Century Fox all other movies have been done by Disney. Now if you need to know anything about Disney 4k remastering you should know that Disney are the absolute best with 4K. This will look the weakest out of all the SW films but 20th Century Fox did a really fantastic job with it. I do understand though that they remastered it a few years ago before releasing it so it will be less advanced than the remastering they do today. However you won't be disappointed as it looks amazing. C3-PO and R2-D2 really are stunning to look at. You can see smudge marks on Darth Vaders helmet lol. I have Disney + put these movies look so much more stunning from a 4K disc than 4K streaming.
