A very good thinking Marvel film.

I was so excited to watch eternals. Unfortunately it was quite disappointing. I thought that both the acting and script were poor, and did not do the film justice. Shame really, as it is a good story. I wasn’t surprised to learn that there won’t be a sequel.

It was such an amazing cast but the movie needed to be a bit longer to develop the characters. They came across as two dimensional, even Angelina Joile which was a shock. Storyline was good but apart from Barry Keoghan who gave an outstanding performance and was instantly relatable as Druig and Kumail Naniani and Harish Patel who gave relatively good performances as Kingo and Karun, the rest of the cast felt like extras. I couldn't connect to them at all. Shame. Storyline and staging was good though.

It was not the best MCU movie I’ve seen though this may be due to making comparisons with the Avengers series and characters. The storyline was the not strongest and I think the character development was a little patchy. The back story would have benefited from possibly 2 movies , the first maybe being an ‘origin’s’ story and the second being a better development of the Eternals fight to save earth. Character development wasn’t given enough thought and the relation between Sirsi and Icaris wasn’t fleshed out but took place in flashbacks, which I feel is a cheap method of getting to the kernel of the film. The direction was good so there is a big 👍there. I would rate the movie as a 5/10 and hope for an upscale ongoing series.

I'm a long term MCU fan. And it pains me to write this review. This is the first time I have been totally disappointed by anything the studio has turned out. I honestly don't know where to start: characters you don't care about, effects which substitute for story, the total lack of humour - the ability to not take itself too seriously has been a key factor in Marvel's success, terrible dialogue, unconvincing sets - I could go on and on. I could not even watch it in one go but had to spread it out over two nights. Simply too painful to watch. Of particular note is Richard Madden's thick Scottish accent. I honestly expected him to order up a deep fried kebab Glasgow style in ancient Babylon in it. It makes Colin Farrell's performance as Alexander the Great the stuff Oscars are made of by comparison. The rest of the cast just seem to be on auto-pilot with a glazed expression fixed on their pay cheque. I am certain at one point Angelina Jolie's soul left her body. If you are worried you will miss something elsewhere in the MCU if you don't watch this I can assure you that you are missing nothing. Be like Jon Snow - (and Kit Harrington is another cast member giving a walking dead performance) - know nothing of this film and save yourself the experience of two hours of your life you will never get back.

5.0 out of 5 stars Muy buena película

La película me gusta, no es la mejor, pero me dio mucho gusto ver a Salma junto a otros héroes de marvel, la imagen es buena, no puedo ver todavía el disco de 4k, pero sí tiene audio y subtítulos en español latino, y muy buen precio.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very worthy MCU movie & great start to something spectacular to come!
Reviewed in the United States on 19 February 2022
FIRST and FOREMOST... do NOT read any of the comments / reviews for this movie... including mine below. Go and watch the movie for yourself without any possible doubt & bias and make up your own mind. Even if just to rent it before buying. That now being said...

I don't know what's wrong with many of the naysay reviewers for this movie, other than that many of them appear to be just haters & trollers that are purposely writing negative reviews. Granted, not everyone is going to like every movie, but many of the reviews I've read seem purposely negative for the sake of being negative. I see it on many other movies reviews, as well as social media platforms more n more... it's like a negative cancer that is spreading faster n faster in this world where people are just wanting to be negative for the simple reason being negative. But, I digress.

I will first say that, yes, this MCU movie isn't exactly the same in exact tone as the 22-movie Infinity Saga run of MCU movies, but it definitely is an MCU-class movie with plenty of awe & wonder, with great story telling. This movie is definitely not on par with the DCU's more "dark" motive of story telling, like how I've some attempt to compare it to, but I will admit to it having a bit more seriousness... and rightfully so. I'm not going to give away any spoilers mind you but, upon completion of watching the movie, I believe many of you will understand why. I'd say this movie (possible/hopeful arc) is actually similarly related to the GotG realm vs Earth & it's Avengers, and it wouldn't surprise me if there is a crossover or collaboration with the GotG in up coming Eternals / GotG movies... with perhaps an Avengers mixings even later on down the line as a bigger saga climatic event draws nearer to Feige's vision.

As far as my mentioning of the DCU above, I as well enjoy their movies too and can tell a difference in them vs MCU. Hell, I never saw the deserving backlashing that Green Lantern received after it came out. Granted, I now prefer RR as DP, but that doesn't negate my liking of DCU's attempt at Green Lantern when it came out and have wished its sequel had been made. But regardless, DCU's vision of a more darker & more brooding approach to telling their stories seems to work for them. Although, I will admit that WB/DC's inclusion of a bit more jokes in recent movies was a welcome addition. So, even if an MCU movie were to come along that would be more in-line with how DCU makes theirs, then so be it. That doesn't mean it will be an awful movie nor worth of trashing it for the sake of some being "Team MCU vs Team DCU" extremists.

Did his movie introduce a lot of new characters at once?... yes. Did this movie introduce new mythos' & character drama?... yes. Did this movie underwhelm at doing either?... absolutely not. Can this movie have some drawn-out "slow" scenes?... sure. But did that ruin the movie or cause one to lose focus?... heck no! If anything, it works for this movie.

One thing that also will help for some to better understand what they watch, is the bonus features. For me, I didn't need them to have enjoyed the movie, but rather it helped me to understand a bit more about the movie's creative view & bringing to life from behind the camera.

Going by the theatrical trailers I saw beforehand and my un-avoidance of reading some reviews, I will say that this MCU movie wasn't what I was expecting. But that actually worked out out great because, I think the movie movie was way better than how I assumed it would be... and that's a rarity when most of today movie preview trailers tend to give away too much and/or mislead by showing only the good parts prior to actually watching the movie in it's entirety.

If you didn't take head to my warning advise at the beginning before watching this movie and have (obviously lol) read down this far, I beg of you to watch it for yourself be truthful to yourself rather than be influenced by haters & trolls. If you genuinely don't like this movie, fair enough... but at least review it fairly rather than an apparent dogmatic approach.

5.0 out of 5 stars Continuando la Fase 4....

4.0 out of 5 stars INCREÍBLE (Y NO TANTO)
Reviewed in Mexico on 25 February 2022
