Film great but DVD box cheap and nasty

Film great but DVD box cheap and nasty
Film is great as expected, but the box it comes in is nothing like the ÍøÆغÚÁÏ photos. No cardboard dust cover. It also has huge circular recycling holes cut out of the plastic very soft/flexible, no pamphlets, and honestly feels like (I imagine) a pirate DVD with photocopied cover would be like.It really is pathetic when film studios put less effort than pirates into packaging.Given the packaging, I bet the DVD itself won't last me more than 5 years before the material cracks.

Another Marvel comics movie. If you've come with them this far, you know it's best to watch them all in order to get the continuity and know what's going on. Be aware on this occasion though that this one also follows on from the end of the Disney Plus tv series 'Wandavision.' I didn't have any problem understanding what was going on in the film as, although I don't have Disney Plus, I had read enough about events in it to know what happened in said series. But anyone who hasn't might be left a little confused.

Anyway, it's back to Dr. Strange. Post his first film and the events of Infinity War/Endgame he's still doing his magic. He professes to be happy. Even though what happened with Thanos still weighs on him. And he sees his possible love interest from the first film [Rachel Mcadams] marrying another guy.

Then a girl called America Chavez appears. She's from another universe. And she needs his help. But the threat she faces turns out to be not what he initially thought. A chase through universes ensues, facing a foe who stop at nothing to get what they want. Literally.

Amazingly, in none of these universes do we actually see a single one where enough people like 3D tv to make it commercially viable. Take the hint!

I did start to feel during the last four Marvel movies that they were starting to get a tiny bit formulaic. And lacked jeopardy. This one is a pleasant surprise because it avoids those issues. It's imaginative. It could probably have shown us more of the Multiverse than we actually get, but the stuff you get is good. It does allow veteran director Sam Raimi to show his own flourishes, and yet it still manages to balance that with being a Marvel movie. Which Eternals didn't quite.

America, who went on to get her own Disney Plus show, is quite an engaging presence. And there is a good threat here. A very believable one also. Which meant it did have the jeopardy in the set pieces I was hoping for.

A decent watch. And here's hoping following Marvel films will let their directors have the same latitude also. There are of course two scenes in the end credits. Middle and at the end of them. It has to be said though that the first one undercuts the final shot of the film.

The dvd has no extras. It does start when loaded with the Marvel logo, which plays for a few seconds. You can't skip this so wait for it to finish.

is it a 2022 American superhero film based on Marvel Comics featuring the character Doctor Strange? Produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, it is the sequel to Doctor Strange (2016) and the 28th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The film was directed by Sam Raimi, written by Michael Waldron, and stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Stephen Strange, alongside Elizabeth Olsen, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Benedict Wong, Xochitl Gomez, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Rachel McAdams. In the film, Strange protects America Chavez (Gomez), a teenager capable of travelling the multiverse, from Wanda Maximoff (Olsen).

Doctor Strange director and co-writer Scott Derrickson had plans for a sequel by October 2016. He signed to return as director in December 2018, when Cumberbatch was confirmed to return. The film's title was announced in July 2019 along with Olsen's involvement, while Jade Halley Bartlett was hired to write the film that October. Derrickson stepped down as director in January 2020, citing creative differences. Waldron and Raimi joined the following month and started over, adding elements of the horror genre that Raimi had worked with previously and making Maximoff the villain of the film, continuing her story from the series WandaVision (2021). Filming began in November 2020 in London but was put on hold in January 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Production resumed by March 2021 and concluded in mid-April in Somerset. Shootings also occurred in Surrey and Los Angeles.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness premiered at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on May 2, 2022, and was released in the United States on May 6, as part of Phase Four of the MCU. The film received generally positive reviews from critics who praised Raimi's direction, the visuals, and Cumberbatch and Olsen's performances, while criticism was mostly directed towards the writing. The film grossed $955 million worldwide, making it the third-highest-grossing film of 2022.

With only a touch of Sam Raimi's fingerprint on the film with him working in Marvel's box. I felt underwhelmed by the final product, with a title which promised so much when first announced, I will this day and forever wonder what Derrickson's idea was, but maybe in another Multiverse, someone might find out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as the first but still fun

There are films that actually took advantage of the multiverse concept way better but that doesn't mean that the film didn't do justice of its plot. There's also the complaint about the treatment of Scarlet witch which I can't agree with considering the circumstances of our character but it's also making it act as if she's never going to come back which if you're a fan of the MCU you should be ashamed of yourself of having such thoughts like that. Either way I still enjoy it. Nowhere near as much as the first film but still. I just wish they kept the same composer but who am I to complain about Danny elfman
