Monsters, Inc.
Top scarer Sulley and his enthusiastic Scare Assistant Mike work at Monsters, Inc., the largest scream-processing factory in Monstropolis.
From the Creators of Toy Story comes the computer-animated film that captured the hearts of fans and critics everywhere. John Goodman stars as the lovable James P. Sullivan (Sulley) and Billy Crystal as his wisecracking best friend, Mike Wazowski. Top scarer Sulley and his enthusiastic Scare Assistant Mike work at Monsters, Inc., the largest scream-processing factory in Monstropolis. The main power source of the monster world is the collected screams of human children. Monsters believe children are dangerous and toxic, however, and they are scared silly when a little girl wanders into their world.
Key Characters
James P. Sullivan
In Monsters, Inc., James P. Sullivan, or Sulley as he prefers, is shown to be good-natured, hardworking, and confident, who loves his job as a Scarer and while he basked in the limelight of being Top Scarer and was indeed going for the All-Time Scare Record, he had a humble side in that he was more interested in being a good employee for the company.
Mike Wazowski
Mike Wazowski is a proud and confident monster, partly defined by his friendship with James P. Sullivan, whom he works with as his Scaring Assistant, and drives him through an exercise regimen like a strict coach.
Boo
Boo is a toddler who is curious and naive. She can talk but has baby, gibberish vocabulary, and little dialogue.

غ.co.uk Review
The very best animated films have stories that stand up to repeated viewings, over long periods of time. Already, Monsters Inc falls into that category, courtesy of excellent characters, lots of warm laughs, and brilliant execution. It's a treat of a movie, and one that has already stood up time and time again to repeated viewings.
The film itself follows two of the best characters that the geniuses of Pixar have put on screen to date, Sulley and Mike. They're a team of scarers whose ability to generate screams from children helps generate more electrical power than any of their near rivals. It takes the introduction of a young girl named Boo to start turning things around.
Bursting with interesting supporting characters, and visuals that burst off the screen, the decision to give Monsters Inc a 3D upgrade has also been fully vindicated. It's a film that lends itself to the format well, without the need for gimmickry, and it makes an already stunning Blu-ray transfer just that little bit more essential. The Blu-ray is also loaded with plenty of extras to explore, which round off a quality package, for a very strong and much loved film.
Monsters Inc may not be Pixar's very best film. But it was and is something just that little bit special. And truthfully, who wouldn't want to give Sulley a big hug? --Jon Foster

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 25 February 2013Style Name: SingleVerified PurchaseA totally winning combination. Great film, lovingly re-rendered in 3D with superb high definition and totally immersive surround sound soundtrack.
My favourite 3D so far, depths are clear and deep, which actually helps emphasise the background jokes, pop out 3d pops right out to tickle your glasses. Detail is fantastic, makes you want to reach out and straighten scully's hair, oh and to me the film is even funnier than it was 10 years ago.
Clearly a lot of love and care has gone into this release, and it shows in very frame. It's like an old friend has lost two stone and taken up weight training.
If you need a film to show off your system then this is it, also handy to keep the kids quiet and if you need a giggle on a Sunday afternoon. Brilliant!
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 7 July 2013Style Name: SingleVerified PurchaseThis is one for the whole family. Leave all the technical stuff at the door because this has a great story. Don't go counting how many of Sully's hairs move at any one time. As soon as you do...... Here's one story you'll enjoy, no matter what age you are. That's why DIsney made movies and cartoons in the first place. It's how Pixar do things now. The best thing is, you never grow tired of this. It's great every time you watch.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 26 February 2013Style Name: SingleVerified PurchaseReceived my 3D Blu-Ray copy of Monsters Inc. today. It comes in a nice 3D slipcover which was a pleasant surprise. I won't say much about the movie itself: it's brilliant. One of the best 3D movies I've seen so far. Also the new 7.1 sound is terrific! Toy Story Toons: Partysaurus Rex and For the Birds are also present in 3D and look amazing. A must own for 3D and 7.1 sound lovers! Highly recommended.
But for the edition itself? The reason for my one star deduction! Reading about the US version I feel we've been let down... again! The US version comes with the 3D + 2D version AND the bonus Blu-Ray Disc, next to a DVD and a Digital Copy. It has (new) extra's and even the sound of the standard 2D Blu-Ray has been upgraded to 7.1. NOT on the UK version. It is exactly the same as the 2009 2D Blu-Ray (if you disregard the new sneak peeks for Monsters University, Aladdin and Mulan). So I have to keep both the 2009 & 2013 edition of the Monsters Inc. Blu-Rays to have most of the available extra's ... but the US version still has more! Another missed opportunity.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 29 December 2019Style Name: SingleVerified PurchaseThe description of the storyline makes this look to be a good film so I bought it as a Christmas Present for someone who collects films on DVD - Blu-Ray & 3D formats.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 2 August 2016Style Name: SingleVerified PurchaseI am coming late to 3d - just as it is going out but finding great deals in players, tv, and wonderful 3d movies like this one. Both Monsters are favorites of mine and the upgrade to 3d is amazing.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 30 August 2013Style Name: SingleVerified Purchasewhat with the new monsters uni coming out soon I decided to buy monsters inc . I was not disappointed . The 3d was great and it was fun to watch the film all over again in glorious 3d . Definately a 3d film for the family
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 24 March 2013Style Name: SingleVerified PurchaseGreat depth and colours but the story is poor and the 3d effects are nowhere as near as good as some films .O verall given the chance to decide to purchase this knowing what i do now i would not
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 21 April 2015Style Name: SingleVerified PurchaseProbably one of the best animation films ever and in 3D it is really captivating. I'm sure we'll be watching this one again. Shame that the follow-up prequel 'Monsters University' isn't as good as this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent movie, international version
Style Name: SingleVerified Purchase"Monsters Inc." is a perennial favorite in our home and we enjoyed watching it in 3D. The only thing that bugged my daughter, who grew up with that as her favorite movie, is that in the international version there are some very minor differences where some signs have had wording replaced with symbols (Stalk/Don't Stalk, Scare/Don't Scare, etc.). The scene with the doors is quite amazing in 3D.

5.0 out of 5 stars A GOOD IF NOT PERFECT 3D RECONSTRUCTION OF A PREVIOUSLY 2D FILM
Style Name: SingleVerified PurchaseThe new 3d titles are quite good. The 3d reconstruction works quite well. Not as good as the Finding Nemo job but good.

2.0 out of 5 stars Stick with 2d version of this movie
Style Name: SingleVerified PurchaseI enjoy 3d movies, particularly, especially animated funny ones. This one was a disappointment. Although it is digitally remastered, the 2d dvd version is clearer and lacks the artifacts and ghosting present on this disc. I took the 2d dvd version and allowed my Oppo 203 do a 3D conversion and got a great result in comparison.
